My love-hate relationship continues with Barclay. Apped for the NFL card. Really wanted Texans card, but once again the touchdown eluded me. TU score on denial letter 696. Reason for denial-limited history. My Cap 1 card turns a year old next month. Don't know if that would be considered progress. There are only 2 cards left that I want to get, then garden for 2 years: Barclay and BBVA Clearpoints Visa. Guess I made it to 2 minute warning.
Is the extra points card considered higher echelon than say the Apple visa? I was approved for the apple visa last month. I'm 2 years post BK and my score is less than yours. 675 TU. credit puzzles me sometimes 😑
I would absolutely recon for that!!
I think it is considered a rebuilder too like Apple. I have 30 days to recon, so I'll consider it. Don't know what to say as it is true that I have a limited history. Have opened up a lot of cards in the last 11 months, so maybe 3 months won't hurt me. Not as if the card won't still be there. Maybe this will teach me patience lol. ![]()
Definitely recon they are very easy to work with. Tell them you are trying to build a relationship with Barclay bank and any CL would be fine to prove yourself. If they ask about limited credit history, tell them you are trying to build credit history so hopefully you can buy a house or car what ever fits in the future. Be courteous and that can open doors. Good Luck!

Thanks. I'll try that.
Did you recon?

Yes. The CSR talked about my limited history and how I've made progress and the fact that I have a lot of new accounts. Explained that I'm wanting a mortgage and trying to build a healthy profile and good payment history and was told to continue making positive strides, but at this time they are unable to offer me the card. I guess I just need to stop rushing things. Won't be the end of the world if I never get a Barclay card. Thanks for all of your encouragement and advise.
Give it six months and keep your utilization way down (below 10%). Keep up the positive work with your payment and card history and you will find a very different answer from Barclay in six months.
