Against my better judement I applied yesterday and got further processing.
This morning checking status I see declined so I give a call.
He pulls it up and says it was deeclined because of a previous charge off with them last year (paid)
He says I do see you were able to open up another account with us just a couple months ago (actually 6 this week!) but I would suggest since "Credit was NOT pulled" for this app to wait a little longer and continue to build a new relationship with us with the account you were able to get open and not take another HP right now for this application and be denied again.
I took his advice... Barclay hasn't been all that warm and fuzzy with me... rightfully so I suppose but for some reason I keep going back to them and try to get other cards, this no hp was a sign that they gave me a pass for stupidly applying again! ![]()
I've been debating about applying for my fist Barclay card but I've piled up many new accounts lately I'm afraid they would decline on that and inquiries

COURAGE!
CA has the most epic courage ever seen to go right straight up to Barclay's and more or less say "What's the holdup on my app?" ![]()
I been trying since March for Sallie Mae (I WANT IT!!! BAD!!!) and just last week again. I done 2 recons where with the 2nd one they told me the same thing as you that it was a little early. That being said i'm going to go after it again the week before Christmas.

Yes he does. Pretty amazing
I have had no complaints about BarclayCard, with the exception of part of a payment being held for 10 days (before I regularly made larger payments to the card). My BarclayCard Rewards MC is currently my highest limit at $5k which I just recently got increase from my starting limit of $1300 (no auto-cli for me, but my credit history is... checkered to put it nicely). They have been very good to me so far.
CA doesnt take NO from anyone!

Secret to success: If it doesn't move, bend, or break, or otherwise won't give it, DO IT ANYWAY until it gives.
I think Barclays is honestly kinda overrated. I much prefer Chase and Amex when it comes to this stuff but I do hope you get the card.

They may be overrated for some, though they gave me a $1300 starting CL a year ago when I was working rebuilding, and store cards were giving me quite a bit less. At that point my only other major CC was a recently unsecured card from my local CU, and was declined for Discover, Amex, Chase, Cap One, etc. Even now, a year later, Barclay gave me a $3700 CLI and Cap One would only offer me a $300 starting CL.
