US Bank cash +

I've heard both good and bad things about this card, and I know they nerfed most of the good categories from the 5%. Do you guys still think it's worth applying if I'm interested in the clothing and fast food category? And how are they with 3-4 inquiries on TU?

Only if your profile can pretty much guarantee an instant approval, Otherwise I personally wouldn't bother. (The word personally is key here)

Re: US Bank cash +

US bank has treated me well, but I am not a big fan of the Cash+. I like their flexperks cards though, take a look at them.

I applied for it after knowing that it's getting nerfed. It's still a good card; you have more control of the categories.

I had 4 inq on TU and 4 on EX. EX was pulled and the score was 712. Verification took 7 business days. No recons. Approved for 8.5k.

I rarely get instant approval so I'm OK with some waiting (not 9 days though).

Re: ad Re: US Bank cash +

Check the categories and see if they work for you.

Alas, they have been nerfing like crazy.  I have some "inside info" that I will post about when I have more time.  Suffice to say, there is more trimming to come.  Smiley Frustrated

The Cash+ is still of value to me and I've had no issues with US Bank in general.  I applied through my banker at the branch and was approved within a couple days.  They can be inquiry sensitive (but depends on your profile - the thicker the better) but they are not typically fond of lots of new accounts.

Re: US Bank cash +

With the more frequent category delete/add, it's becoming closer to a revolving card, but still  a long way from that.   If there are categories you like, and are not too something for US Bank, then you can keep them quarter after quarter, much more like a fixed-category card (and of course even those get nerfed).

I'm still not sure why the continue to remove categories once they have a cap in place, but I guess their stats show that people are more likely to be maxing out (or spend more anyway) at restaurants than some of the other categories.

It was a wonderful card, and is certainly no longer that, but it's still pretty good if you can use the categores, and if those categories stay for a while.

The card can return (on 5% categories + bonus) $425 a year.  You can compare that to any alternatives you are considering.

Re: US Bank cash +

I think perks+ is a better card..especially with the 0% interest from 12-18 months (depending on the offer you get) and twice the points the first year ...you also get a lower interest rate most times.

2x points for 12 months on Gas and Grocery doesn't seem very impressive. Now, the US bank Business cards are interesting:

Business Edge Cash Rewards: 3% Cellular, Gas, Office Supply stores.PLUS 25% annual bonus on previous years Cash Rewards up to $250. No annual fe, no Cash Rewards earning cap.

Business Edge Select Rewards (day to day version): 3X on Shipping, Advertising, Utilities, Office Supplies, Telecom, Professional Services. Unlimited points with no cap.

Business Edge Select Rewards (Automotive expenses version): 3X on Gas, Service, Tires, Tolls, Dealerships, Car Washes, and Repairs. Unlimited points with no cap.

Business Edge Select Rewards (Travel and Entertainment expenses version): 3X on Airlines, Auto rentals, Hotels, Restaurants, Travel Agencies. Unlimited points with no cap.

TU-8: 804 EX-8: 805 EQ-8: 788 EX-98: 767 EQ-04: 752
TU-9 Bankcard: 837 EQ-9: 823 EX-9 Bankcard: 837
Total $443,800
