I dont either, but this board if full of hate and rage, it seems to be the common method of operation.  I've been trying to share the message of peace, love, and forgiveness, but it isnt  popular.  Heck, it wasnt even popular 2000 years ago when someone more enigmatic shared it, so I am not shocked.

I believe Barclay was my 2nd card in a post-bk rebuild.  They havent treated me as good as you and your wife, but they did give me a shot when few others would, and for that I'm grateful, regardless of slow growth on CLIs.  The card certainly helped my score and to get other cards, so it's served a purpose regardless.

Anyhow, I do agree and wish more people would open their hearts to Barclay and put their bitterness aside for a bit.

EDIT: To the OP:  Have you called to recon them?  It might be worth your while!

I love you buddy Smiley Happy

I hate to post this but I like Barclay. I just received a auto cli last week. I did post it last week if you want to read it Smiley Happy I went from 5K to 6.8K Smiley Happy

Re: Barclay

I for one have no ill-feeling with Barclay though that doesn't mean I adore them either. Maybe some type/feeling of gratefulnes?
I have a couple of Barclays. An NFL Card and the original Apple Financing Visa that they've been urging me to PC/Upgrade to the Apple Rewards for quite sometime now. I will be combining those 2 in the not so distant future (as soon as they let me pick the card I prefer to PC to though not likely). I'm using those 2 sparingly just so I'd avoid the infamous Barclay AA. $300 every 3-4 months on each seems to do the trick. Barclay was my 2nd rebuilt card as well next to Cap1 when they approved me 2 yrs post BK7 dc in 2013. Was willing to take a hp for a cli but after all these Barclay AA reports here I decided to just forego with it as my spend with them would just put me in their AA radar. Sure I could just close them both but just don't see any reason nor urge YET.

i decided to poke the bear via a CLI. I have their rewards cards with a CL of $4500. My balance is a whopping $99. I got declined for a CLI and got my letter today. I was declined for having a too high of a balance! Major WTH! My fico score on the bottom is a 752. My attitude right now is to call them and close it out asap. My thinking is that it, that they wont be a getting any swipe fees from me for a good LONG time. Right now, the card is in drawer, not long for the light of day. I know Im highly upset right now. Has this happened to anyone recently and if so, how did you deal with it

Why are you that upset you didn't get a CL?  how long have you had the card and what are your spend patterns on the card?  If  you get benefit out of the card I would  use it.  If you don't get benefit don't use it. It was a computer that decided so there is no reason to take it personally.

Re: Barclay

Barclays seems to treat customers who PIF much better than those who revolve a balance. I had to call recon to get an approval on my American Airlines Aviator card because I carried over a small balance on my NFL card the previous month; rejection letter said "sufficient credit already extended with Barclays" or something to that effect.

Re: Barclay

This is how Credit works, they give to those who don't need it.

I've had the Barclay's MC Rewards card for exactly 3 years with a CL of $2500.  My balance has been under $100 for months.  I've never rec'd a CLI with or without requesting it.

@Anonymous scores are 752 - 765...highest credit line @ $24K.   This card will rust before I use it again.

No offense but would they give you a CLI when you barely use the card..

So many not-so-nice words come to my mind when it comes to Barclay's MC Rewards card. I have had this card since 2013 and have not received a single CLI from them - whether auto or manual request. The only reason I have this card in my sock drawer and not in the shredder is because of a psychological affinity I have with it.

Recently, I have been trying out a new game with them - Charge 1 cup of coffee a week then PIF. I'll continue to do this for the next 4 months, and request a CLI (w/gap of 6 months since last request). Lets see how it goes...

I recently asked them to close one of my accounts and fold the limit into one of the others.  It went smoothly. Then they went and closed all of my accounts.

I think it's best never to poke those bears.  They are a bad bunch.

I don't hate them. They are an idiot bank.

I was a customer for 3 years. Managed my accounts both there and elsewhere in exemplary fashion.

One day they closed all 3 of my accounts, without any explanation as to why, other than to say 'account management'.

They close people's accounts for getting other credit cards, for using their cards too little, for using their cards too much, for taking advantage of balance transfer offers, and other nonsensical reasons.

I don't mind a bank taking adverse action when you don't live up to the terms of your agreement.

I do mind them taking adverse action when you do live up to the terms of your agreement.

Barclays is untrustworthy, unreliable, and mismanaged; I would mistrust them and disrespect them, but I don't hate them.

Re: Barclay

My Barclay card opened in 11/15 with a SCL of $5K. Never sent me any pre-approval offers, nothing on the website. Only the cash advance/balance transfer checks every month or so. Last month I decided WTH requested a CLI. It was a HP and I received a $2500 increase. The card isn't used much. I wasn't happy with the HP, but I only have a total of eight between all three CRA. They pulled TU in Michigan, CS upper 700's to over 800 depending on the bureau. AAoA over five years.
