Re: Barclaycard Rewards

I personally would cancel cap 1 since it has an annual fee and you were just approved for two unsecured Cap One cards. US Bank can unsecure. Does it have an annual fee? I can't remember. If not, I would leave it open. Good bank to continue establishing history with. I don't know anything about 53rd bank. If it doesn't have an af, no harm keeping it open unless you need your deposit back. But definitely I would cancel Cap One secured. Not worth the af. Remember, any closed account will stay on your reports 10 years. So it won't affect your AAOA. It will affect your total open credit limits. Therefore affecting utilization.

Re: Barclaycard Rewards

US bank doesn't have annual fee and 53rd is just horrible in my opinion and I'm planning on moving away from them. I had checking and savings with them since 2007 and I think this might be the oldest account on my credit report. Us bank sent me email offering to give me 200 when opening an account and 50 for the first direct deposit. Debating if I can move to us bank. But yeah I think I will be canceling my cap1 secured card once I get the other cap1 cards in the mail.

Re: Barclaycard Rewards

Also my total open credit limit right now is $1500 and I'm only using 22% so I'm hoping when all the cards are reported at about 7750 open credit limit. It's gonna give a nice little bump on the score.

Re: Barclaycard Rewards

Well if you are planning on leaving 53rd anyways I would close it and Cap One and leave US Bank open. But wait till all your new accounts report and you think you could handle losing the $1300. I think you will be just fine and should see a score bump from decreased util.

What other cards should I apply for?

None.

You're off to a good start with these cards. Each of these will review you at 6 months intervals for potential automatic credit limit increases.

If you start going on a binge with inquiries and possible new accounts, you'll be shooting yourself in the foot.

Just stay with these cards, pay them off early and often.

Then in 6 months or a year add one or two, take it slow as you build your scores.

Re: Barclaycard Rewards

Oups...I ended up putting three more inquiries after getting this card. So I have total of 5 inquiries on my report. Question. How are have many inquiries considered bad?
