I'm almost positive that we will see this happening with other lenders in the near future.
I was one of the lucky ones who logged in to the Barclay account and saw a big banner saying "enjoy the benefits of the arrival + by upgrading using this link". I went for it since we travel to Europe and this could be a useful card. Just today I got the email that my card is on the way
I heard Cap1 has tightened up on the Venture as well. I wonder if they're doing something similar.
I'm sure they are. I mean, maybe their audit is just now telling them how much money they've lost from people using the bonus and dumping the card.
I normally would say to recon and you certainly can. I have had success in the past with BC in recon however lately the tone of UW has changed and the lady I spoke with today was plain nasty so I no longer feel the same way. BC appears to have tightened up on their churning rules. Good luck!

Hmm I am showing a pre-approval for the Venture. I wonder if they would turn me down. Figured I would get around to them next year.

You can get 2c per $1 with a Citi DC for a lot less hassle. The only real advantage of the Arrival+ Is the bonus
Don't forget it is very simple to get miles on the Arrival + posting on their travel site. You aren't going to get that with Citi DC.
Just received a letter about the Barclay Arrival + application. It was declined for the reason:
The number of bankcards opened within the last 24 months.
So they do look at 24-month windows. So it is similar to Chase 5/24.
But we did get approved for the Cash Foward card at the same time of application, shortly after the Arrival + application.
Oh that stinks MrD! *hands MrD gloves and a garden hoe*

I hope I get that upgrade link. If I get the upgrade link I may keep the card. How much spend did you average on the Arrival before you got the upgrade link?

I originally applied for the Arrival + last year then downgraged after meeting the spending..only used it for those 3 months.
Next, hada balance transfer for 18 months %0 ($9,550 CL) and BT $6k. Paid it off in 6 months. Card did not see use for about 8-10 months and was parked at $0 balance $9,550 CL. Early September, i logged in and saw the banner and upgraded. Two weeks after upgrading, called in and ask and had a SP CLI, i was bump to $12,550. I usually put about $2k/month and pay in full.
