A couple of days ago a app'd for the Barclays Apple card and was denied online. The reason wasn't given immediately however I was given the 7-10 day message to receive an explanation letter. Knowing I just had a HP on my report (They are still pulling Transunion) , I decided to call the backdoor number and speak to an analyst for a review.
He asked me about my credit history including a year old bankruptcy, 3 new inquiries and a few quick things about my employment. Before going into his decision he noted that I have a Rewards Card with Barclays and that its a good standing with 4 MOS of good payment history. He also said that I have several accounts with other lenders that I am in great standing with.
Unfortunately though, he wasn't able to approve me or overturn the instant decision, He said that the reason was that they 'Like to see several more months of on time payment history" with the Barclays Rewards Card and with other lenders, before they would approve me. He also said that I should stop applying for credit for a while. The other things on my profile weren't an issue he said. At time of app/call: TU; 610. CH7 BK discharged 1 year. No collections. No charge offs. 7 months of credit cards reporting paid on time. 14 month old auto loan POT. 2 months ago, I applied for and was approved for the Barclays Reward card with a $800 SL.
The only reason I app'd was for the card (not an Apple fan) and because there are several reports of folks with a TU at my score and below getting approval. This is a true example of YMMV and even though this is unpleasant (because of the HP), I wanted to add my experience for other future Apple applicants to review. As for me, I'm gardening for 6 months before applying for anything. Good luck.

Yeah Barclays is kinda tight, wait a few months for the "APR reduction phonecall" u have to make, maybe get a little love then. Also if u were you, spread the luv around to other lenders, maybe discover or a few SCT not too many though. 1 year post BK not gonna get a lot of luv anyways.
