Hi all! So, this is my first post, but I have browsed this site for quite a few months now. I have been in the process of rebuilding my credit and I feel like I’ve done a great job so far, with some hiccups as well.
A mere 16 months ago my credit score across the board was around 490… I had a lot of issues in my mid 20’s! So, I opened a secured card with BofA (only $600) and paid off every month while cleaning up my reports. I opened a capone platinum with $300 limit three months ago and have a car lease from 4 months ago. I knew I was hovering around 600 when I applied for the JBlue card in the beginning of May, was denied. The reasoning was
Too few accounts with sufficient satisfactory performance and then proportion of balances to credit limits is high & Length of time revolving accounts has been established. (my Age of accounts is over 6 years though). With a TU score of 577.
I got rid of all my inquiries and it states 0 on TU credit monitoring and all of the other free credit monitoring sites. I was added as an AU to my mom’s AMEX where she pays in full every month with about $7k in spending. My avg account balance when the statements were cut was around 44% but not late on any payments and pay multiple times a month. My Vantage 3.0 TU score is 632 now and FICO 8 is 619 TU. I called the recon line today and they had to hard pull again to reflect the changes, apparently it still shows 10 inquiries now. But on every report I see it shows 0… She said that didn’t matter though bc a bunch were from Auto loan. She said utilization and length of time to see payment history on revolving was the issue but I was on the right track and to check back in 6-12 months.
Should I call back and see if someone else could get this approved or is it a waste of my time?
Thanks so much to the everyone on here for helping me gain the knowledge to get back on the right path, I am headed in the right direction!

IMHO it's a waste of time, and they actually keep track of how many times you call to recon.
I would wait 6 mos. and if your TU score is significantly better, apply then.

I just got off the phone with a very nice woman, she asked me some questions and when she came back I thought with her tone it was another no. But it was overturned! They gave me $2,000 initially, I asked if they could up it, she then came back and said they couldn't overturn it bc I had asked for a recon already. She felt horrible but then asked a manager, after being on hold for 5-10 minutes thinking another rejection, they approved me... For $2,500 and the card is expedited for delivery on Saturday! It's the JetBlue plus card! Very excited to have a second chance with a great card!
Glad you proved me wrong Congratulations, enjoy it.
