Here's the history:
i IIB in BK Barclays for under $1000 in 2017. I was in a CH 13, and ended up paying back 100%.
Due to the BK, I've been sssumjng I was on the eternal Barclays BL However. I've noticed at least 2 random promotional SPs the last few months
Since ...generally...Barclays won't even bother with a HP if you are on the BL if you apply, I thought there was no risk in completing the Red AAviator card app since most of my travel is on AA.
I applied...no HP...BUT the interesting thing is that the denial letter which followed cited "too many recent inquiries" instead of anything to do with a previous account.
I didn't expect to get anything other than a terse "status of previous account" excuse.
I don't know if this is a sign that Barclays might be relaxing its BL policies...I'm certainly not losing any sleep over it...but just figured I'd post it here as a data point.
Someone else posted that they got in after a burn and making them whole. It may be that Barclays relaxed their policy especially for those who made them whole.
It is one of the cards I am aiming for and I read all the DP because I have had a CO of Barclays in 2016 that I never paid back. It would be interesting if they have indeed relaxed the policy.

@OCONUS I agree. It just seems to me odd that they would say "too many inquiries"...and I do have too many..
which they could have seen on their promotional SP. The question I guess reverts to, "Why no HP?" The answer could be that I am on the BL, but I would think they would cite that as the reason. Discover sure did when I applied one time very early in my rebuild.
@OCONUSso this is off topic, but am I reading your card signature right and you have US Bank Altitude Go, Connect, and Reserve?!? I've not seen anyone have all 3 :![]()

Why not ![]()
Yes, I started off as a secured card with go and platinum. They both graduated. Upon graduation, I PCd Plat to Connect because Plat was a garbage and no reward vs the Connect. This past month I got Reserve which is even better than Connect if you spend justifies.

I read on Reddit and elsewhere as well that they are a tough cookie to crak after a burn. However, someone posted they got in 24 months after BK and IIB them, though, I question it.
I will try next month and see what it comes back with!

They are definitely well-known for their eternal BL.

Pure speculation, but the app team (seeing that they recently did a soft pull) may have decided to review that prior to a hard pull. When they saw that your inquiries were above their threshold, they may have decided to forego the hard pull since the info there wouldn't affect the decline decision. (Had the soft pull passed muster, I'm confident they would have followed with a hard for a more recent update.)
In any case, it sounds like you're cleared to app and that the prior paid IIB is no longer an impediment.
I was also declined today due to that past unpaid CO from 2016. No HP.
