Dang... I'm sorry to hear that. 
You're right about them being hard on baddies... in 2015 I was able to get approved for two Amex cards (I burned them in BK7 in 2000) and I was 'riding high' and tried for the BoA AAA Visa... declined. At that time my baddies were six years old (and Amex was fine with them) but BoA was a full-stop.
I know it's aggravating, but the baddies will be gone before you know it, and IMO BoA is worth the wait.
