Thanks for the replies. I don't mind giving them my tax returns so I'll call them and offer them.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Re: Becu application questions

I got a hard copy of my application today and I did check self employed so it makes me question why they would ask for w2's instead of tax documents. I also got my credit score paper and it said 809. It also says that's better than 79% of population.  I find it hard to believe that 1 in 5 people have 808 or better fico scores. Anyways I plan on sending my tax papers in on Monday and see what happens.

I joined becu a month ago with no problem even with being on east coast.  I applied for a credit card about a week ago. I got conditionally approved for 19.5k. Today I got a request for last 2 pay stubs. Anyone else get that request?  I'm actually self employed so I have no pay stubs.  I have 800  fico and put down 98000 legit income off of my 2018 taxes. I dont remember 100%, but would have checked the self-employed box if there was one. I have 5 cards with more than the 19.5 k limit they're offering so I don't get the poi. Never been asked for that on a credit card application.  Any thoughts?  Thanks

Its a Credit Union, POI is very common.

@longclimbback  Dont just send papers. Call them first, explain what's on your app and what you can submit vs. what they are asking for

You're running the risk of them going " This is not what we asked for" even though you're providing a type of document that's by far above what they are asking.

As to why,  they have template requests. it's possible wrong one was used. That's why it's important you call first. If they tell you it's okay, just send a brief introductory letter with your paperwork stating something like " Per my conversation with CSR So and so, I was told these documents were acceptable"

Their calls are recorded, and every action on website is tracked, so no need to worry if they will have the record of your conversation

As an example, I started app for car loan, about 5 min into it decided I wanted to wait another week or so, got a call next day asking if I required any assistance with my application that never happened.

BECU documents that they documented. True story.

As much of pain as they can be at first, it's worth it in the long run. Once lending and fraud move on, it's smooth sailing all the way.

Congrats on the approval. Looks like a good CU. I looked them up and dont see how I could get in on the action living in TN.

Re: Becu application questions

So after a busy period in life and a computer and scanner replacement,  I finally got them their papers yesterday. I heard back from them today and was told that my handwritten forms are not acceptable. I've done my taxes the old school  way for 29 years and this is my 1st decline when presenting them. I guess I'll have to order some transcripts, but I'll miss my 30 day window. But at least I'm in and know about what I'll be looking at if I apply again.
