Best option for Amex?

Thanks to all the frequent contibutors here!  This is my first post, but I have read a lot of posts and it has been a tremendous help.

I plan to apply for one of the new Hilton Amex cards when they come out in January.  I am guessing they may have a good bonus offer when they come out.  I travel quite a bit for work and Hilton brands usually end up being the most convenient to where I need to be.  Eventually, I may apply for the Platinum charge card.

I currently do not have any Amex cards.  I checked the Amex pre-approvals and it is showing that I am pre-approved for Blue Cash Everyday, the Everyday Credit Card, and the Premier Rewards Gold (with 50,000 bonus points after $1,000 spend in the first 3 months).

From what I have read on the boards, it seems like once you are in with Amex, it is easier to get another of their cards.  Should I just apply for one of the pre-approvals now and then try for one of the new Hilton cards when they come out?  Or should I just hold off and cold apply for the Hilton next month?    My current EX 8 is 675.  I am at about 45% utilization on my current cards, but will be at less than 20% after this statement cycle.  I only have 2 inquiries on my EX report.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Check pre-approvals again after the statement cycle, expect a decent score bump by lowering your UTI under 29%.

Re: Best option for Amex?

From what I’ve read here and my own personal experience. You’re prequalified for the hardest cards to get from them.

Basically since your pre qualified for the PRG you should be able to get any charge card from them since they all have very similar if not the same underwriting criteria.

And the fact that you are pre approved for the BCE and ED means you should be able to get any of the co branded cards as the underwriting for BCE/ED is stricter then many of the cobranded cards.

Not sure what the underwriting will be like for a new card that hasn’t come out yet though.

Amex does have a 2/90 rule for revolvers. Keep that in mind.

Total Revolving Limits $254,800

I got my Amex Hilton at a 650 EX. I would think that you wouldn't have any problems with that one.
