Back in the beginning of September, I apped for the Amex HH card but got denied (credit score was the reason they gave me at 647). I plan to app again in December or January and wondered if 3 months is a good amount of time wait to app a 2nd time. I thought I read that it's likely a SP if you app again after a denial but I just want to be sure that's true. If I wait until late January to app once balances are reported to Experian, that would be about 4 1/2 months from the previous app with Amex.
Getting the score back up is definitely the plan by January. I have several cards that I have that recently went from 27% to maybe 3% utilization on the balances from the most recent payment I did. And these are cards that I barely use and will likely close them next year. So that should help the scores go up for the next few months with nearly all my cards sitting at 5% utilization or less.
I think the SP I was actually thinking of was if you already have a Amex card with them. Since it's just one HP through Experian, I can deal with that when the time comes in a few months.
