I was just declined for a NFCU Cash Rewards card. What is the best way/time/method to recon? Do I need to wait the 5-7 days to get the letter in the mail or is it best to recon now? Is it best to make a phone call or to send a message?
They looked at my Transuion which is the worst of my reports and I don't feel it is accurate (in process of disputing).

Am I reading your signature correctly that your BK was just discharged <1 month ago. That may be why you were declined. If/when you recon, make sure you have a definitive reason why you filed BK, what has changed to prevent it from happening in the future, and why you want a cashRewards CC.
Good luck. I'm 8 mo post dc on a Ch 13 with an 8 mo good rebuild history, 1% util, pretty good income and scores in the mid 600's and can't get a cc with them due to BK. I was approved for an auto refi and a $5000 CLOC though so I will garden until next Spring and try again.
I've read here on the boards that they make you wait one year post BK for a credit card. I don't know if that's correct, but I read it.
You may want to stay away from PenFed for now, they are a harder nut to crack then NFCU.
Definitely garden what you have.
FWIW- I know this is after the fact, but I "re-conned" via private message and I was approved. I explained the reason for my negative entries. It seemed to work.
Best credit wishes to you!

Penfed has the same policy on requiring a 1-year wait after BK as NFCU, to my understanding, but they're also very inquiry-sensitive (their term of art is "pyramiding debt", so if they see what they consider too many recent inquiries/new accounts, they'll turn you down). That's why I'm waiting until September at earliest to try them - my most recent CC account/inquiry was in March. That being said, I'm counting on my longstanding and trouble-free relationship with them to help my cause. Also from what I understand, Penfed is exceptionally good on phone/in-person recon after initial denials.
