BoA Premium denial, double CLI consolation

I was going to wait until next month to app for another card, but I got impatient.  I thought my chances with the BoA Premium card would be OK since I'm inbounds of the 2/3/4 rule and My last EX inquiry was 4 months ago and my last new account showing was October (two Amex accounts haven't reported yet).

Instant denial.  Haven't received the letter yet, but I'm guessing I'm in credit card purgatory due to too many recent accounts.

I did, however, take the opportunity and submit CLI requests for my existing accounts since they use the same HP for 30 days.  My Cash Rewards and Travel Rewards cards were both at $8,000.  I requested $12,000 on both and got it.

Not exactly what I wanted from my HP, but at least it wasn't a total waste.

Although it's YEMV, but typically BoA pulls EX for new accounts and TU for CLIs. So, were you able to confirm that EX was used for both?

The only time I've been able to use the same HP (EX) is when speaking with the UW and if I needed to reallocate some CLs and/or a CLI on an existing card shortly after the approval.

I just pulled my own TU and there's no new inquiry.  EX just shows the one.

There are multiple data points where a single HP is used for both a new card and for a CLI on existing card if both were requested within 30 days of the HP.  I've myself received 2 x CLI then 1 new CC on a single TU pull.

I just app'd and was approved for the 123 rewards card. They pulled Ex AND Tu for a single app. I'm hesitant to request a CLI on my current BofA Americard for fear of another double pull.

Yes BofA has been doing this for awhile probably around a year plus now.  When I have gotten new cards (exp pull) I have used it for CLI and no new HP other then TU or flip-flop if I have done a CLI I have also used it for a new card and no other pull.  Obviously YMMV, but this is how it is has been while you you were away for most

If you requested a specific CLI on both cards and got it. Then you left CL on the table. Normally you can go right back in and request again and the system will counter offer you using the same HP.

The exact same thing happened to me with BofA recently. I got denied for the PR card due to utlization but they gave me double CLI using the same HP on Trans & Eq. I now know that I am guilty of leaving cash on the table bc I did not ask for a higher CLI total. Lesson learned.

So you’re saying I can keep requesting CLI on the same HP until they counter offer me? Is it too late for me to do that now?

The pull from posts here is good 30 days. With BofA you always shoot high and let the system counter offer.
