BoA is just tightening up underwriting lately across the board. On the exposure note, generally once you reach that point you are going to have to move limits around to get an increase or new card. Sometimes when you request a CLI they will just steal limit from another one of your cards to approve the increase.
If you're brushing up against the limit with BoA I wouldn't ask for CLIs if you are trying to get additional cards from them in the future.
Funny I was just going thru all of my BofA denials recently I do have the AK Air Siggy 10k CL and prev had several AK Air plat accounts. Lack of a banking relationship and prior BK are the two most quoted reasons for denial, have tried recon multiple times with no success and even wrote a letter to EO no luck!
You can always try again in few months. Did the CSR give any indication how long the current SUB of 40K will last?
