BofA denial, next month a mailer?

Anybody else had this happen? I tried for a 3rd time in 2 years to get a BofA card last month and was as both previous times immediately denied, the letter that came said i had a 748 EX, etc too many new accounts blah blah blah. It also had an offer for a secured card. HA!

Anyway today i came home to the very first BofA mailer ever - for the very Cash Rewards card they denied me for last month... With a single 15.x% APR, 15 month no interest period, $150 sign up bonus.

Is this typical of them? I want to get a card with them simply out of spite now but the card itself is not appealing and I am trying really hard to wait for under 5/24 so I can finish Chase off...

I'm just in awe that they would suddenly change their mind a month later.

IDK but NFCU pulled that last year... and the mailer approval Code worked.... $5k SL that's now $23k
NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

You should try calling in to a credit analyst to explain. Do you have anything at all on your report that may spook them? When the letter said too many new accounts. Exactly how many new accounts do you have in the past 6 months or year?

Nothing negative at all, 11 years of history, AAoA 3 years, overall utilization 3%, in the last 6 months 2 cards reporting, past year 7.

I ran into this with Citi a month or so back. Hard denial, crashed and burned on the recall, and got the pre-qual flier in the mail the next week. It had a nice sign up bonus, so I went for it. The approval was even for a decent SL as far as Citi goes. Hopefully your story will be positive too!

Re: BofA denial, next month a mailer?

Thanks and double thanks for sharing that about Citi!

I'm debating maybe pulling the trigger on it in a few weeks when my Amex ED reports it's new 25k CL just in case that would bump up a BofA approval limit.

The only real hesitation is that if i open 1 more personal card i won't have any wiggle room waiting to drop under 5/24 next summer.
