So I received an invite to apply for the Bread Financial Amex Rewards Cards. So I do the pre-qualification thing on their website just to make sure it's legit, and it says I'm pre-approved for $2600. So I decide, why not and apply for the card. I made sure both my Experian and Equifax reports were unfrozen when I applied too. Once I submitted the application, instead of getting an approval message I received the following:
Why would they tell me I'm pre-approved and send me an offer just to reject me? I've applied before in the past (not pre-approved) and it was always a rejection. So now I'm annoyed I wasted a hard pull on my credit report for nothing. I even got an alert from experian saying that my credit report was viewed too. (Or should I just be hopeful that this is just an identity verification thing)
They will just confirm your application information and identity. They don't accept VOIP phone numbers or Google Voice for text confirmation.
I got one of those in the mail today too.
They tell you the credit limit on the prequal?
Let us all know how it works out.
They do! I was pre-qualified for $7,500, so I applied and was approved right away. I didn't know the rate until I got the card in the mail though.
I'm being inundated with prequals for both the Bread 2% Amex and the AAA Visa ($200 bonus on the Amex, $100 on the AAA).
Ironically, I'm interested in the AAA card (for Walmart) but obviously the higher bonus on the Amex gets my attention more, LOL. The drawback to the Amex for me is it would probably end up sock-drawered after the bonus was earned since I have better options.
I'll likely be sitting on my hands a bit longer, but it's good to know they'll show the credit line before the app is completely submitted.

If AMEX cookies are in play you know the right choice...
@Mike1014805 Normally on pre-approved app invitation you have the invitation code when applying. Comenity then sends you a code to your cell phone. Good Lucky on your application.
@UncleB Speaking of Bread Rewards AAA Cc. I applied for the Bread daily cash rewards a week ago got instant approval $9,000 no annual fee .APR is 20 % but it does not matter bcuz I pay balance in full. Also I noticed you mention the Bread Amx the cash rewards are great. A year ago I applied for the Bread Amx got instant approval $9,000 no annual fee. Last month got auto increase to $10,500. Both cards are excellent.
I know EXACTLY WHY!
it happened to me TWICE
they never hard pulled me though, EVER.
so, they also pull your lexis nexis score which if it isnt where its supposed to be say 600 or higher, then theyll decline based on that even though they pre approved yuou based on a fico score from the major three banks. look into it. COmenity is so sassy they evven lowered my cash advance limit bc they saw in my lexis nexis report that i took a couple cash advances here or there . so petty BUT THATS WHY LEZXIS NEXIS.
Good morning, all...
I had to google this because I had never heard of this card. Anyway, I hope it comes out as an approval for you. Best of luck.
