I've been getting Capital One's GM BuyPower mailers for awhile now and recently got an offer of $0 annual fee and 0% APR for 1 year.
I finally bit the bullet and applied to get an instant approval of... $300. I feel it's low due to going app happy in the last two weeks.
Checking out the forum, it appears many people get low limits to start out with. Does this card get regular CLIs? From what I've read, it's not looking like it, but I haven't seen anything more recently on people's experience with this card. What about trying to get a higher limit -- any luck?
We are looking to get a car in 1-2 years and have had opportunities to drive Buicks while renting for business travel. We really liked them and would consider buying. That was the main reason I app'd so we would potentially use the perks.
630 but it dropped a bit after 2 hard pulls from other apps.

I am in the same boat, I got a $500 SL from what I have been reading the CLI button will appear at 90 days more or less. Whether or not it will get approved is yet to be seen at least in my case. Not really usable at the moment for me as most of my purchases are over $500 lol. I do not believe that you should expect this card to grow all that much, I have seen a few datapoints of people getting up $10k but that was very difficult to do and usually involved the execuetive office etc.
@tydawg - $500 isn't much either especially if it doesn't grow much.
After applying, I've been reading a couple people that are putting thousands through their low limit card, PIF and not getting any luv with CLIs. That was a year or two ago, so not sure if that's still the case. I guess I'm just annoyed I let myself fall into it. Would have been worth it with a higher CL and take advantage of the intro rate with balance transfers.
They certainly don't make it easy for people to rack up points with these SLs.
Some people have had good success with the card. It's such a toss up.
I was probably around 620-630 when I got mine in 2/2016 for $300. 6 months later I got credit steps to $500.
10 months later, it is still at $500.
But my kids are AU on that card so I'll hold on to it a little longer. My oldest has their own Cap 1 card. Just have to wait for the other one to establish a card.
If I can't get them to raise it to at least $5k within a year I am closing it. I am done with toy limit issuers that don't like me based on profile age. Chase trusts me with $30k and all Cap One does is a laughable $500... if it makes you feel better I did not get a balance transfer offer so at least you got that
The card will grow with usage, higher scores and time, mine is currently at $13,500 and will be opened 3 years come August (no EO calls or email).
When I got mine, it had a $300 SL. It got bumped to $500 after a few months. I've had it about a year or so now and haven't gotten any more increases. When I click I the "Request Credit Limit Increase" link, I get a message saying "We are not accepting Credit Line Increase requests. We apologize for any inconvenience." I used to get a warning that if I went through with the request, it'd be a hard pull.

That's never happened to me, every time I request an increase its granted.
