CAP ONE CLI

So about 5 months ago, when my score was about 620ish, they gave me a 1000 increase, yes I know, amazing.

Now that my scores have improved significantly, next month, how much do you think they would approve me for, if any?

Anyone with exp would be helpful!

Re: CAP ONE CLI

What was your score at the time of approval?  I'd guess 620 or less?  If that's the case, you could very well be on their crap list forever.

I believe my score was 619 at the time I was approved with them.  I received a $500 CLI and 6 months and another $500 CLI at 12 months.  At 18 months when I requested my 3rd CLI, I honestly thought I'd get my first above $500 as my FICO 08's were 751/764/793 - obviously much improved over my initial score 18 months earlier.  No luck, complete denial with my CLI request.  My card has now been sitting in my SD.

There have been multiple cases of people obtaining a CO card with a "fair" credit score and even when they get their score to "excellent" CO continues to view/treat them as if they still possessed the profile they had at the time of approval.  It seems that account is simply tainted, possibly forever.  These same people report applying for a new CO card and getting approved with a limit of $15k or $20k, many times in excess of the $2k or $3k limit they've been sitting on for a year or two.

Oh crap, it's one of those where it's about what your score was rather than what it is. lol Dammit. Oh well, I'll take whatever they dish out to me. (as if I have a choice, lol)

As for my approval score, Oh I have no idea. I applied for this card a long time ago, and never paid any attention to credit scores or anything.

Couple of yrs ago, not know myFico forums I would request a CLI yearly and they would normaly give me $1000. My scores back than were around 580 - 620.

After reading myFico that you can request CLI from CapOne every 6 months, and I noticed that my credit scores have improved 650 - 680 as well and 6 months have passed after my last CLI. So I requested one and they gave me 3K.

Re: CAP ONE CLI

From my experience, CO will give someone with a low SL (and weak scores to start the account) a couple of CLIs but will essentially max them out at a relatively low limit.  $3k is about right.  I couldn't get mine a dollar above $4k.  It seems they don't want you to forget where you came from; they certainly don't.

lol, that sucks man. I'm glad it's just a reg Cap 1 Platinum and I do not use it. I'll just tuck that in to the side of my sock drawer because the Age on it is too long!

Re: CAP ONE CLI

Nothing wrong with that.  I did the same exact thing with my Quicksilver and don't plan on changing it any time soon.  Probably never.
