CFU 7-10 days message...what next?

So here I am, with the dreadful 7-10 day message from the automated line -
My credit history:
725-745 trans union/FICO/experian
<1.5 years of credit history and only one CC (Discover IT)
No late payments, always paid in full, I spent about 1-1.5k per month. I applied with a $40k salary, some from scholarship money, work and money from my parents (I’m a college student)
What should I do next, if I should even do anything? I wanted to apply for the intro offer and strengthen my credit with more SL.

Assuming you don't want to call them wait for the letter to see what needs to be addressed. Personally, I'd call them tomorrow and cross your fingers on it being a possible verification issue, if not that be prepared to recon and plead your case on getting approved for the card. If needed HUCA (hang up call again) til you get a favorable agent if the first attempt at recon fails

Data points say you call recon at this point. See flowchart:

good luck!

Personally, since this likely could be a denial, I'd wait for the letter. This should provide the reasons that may be addressed during the reconsideration call. This is not a guarantee they'll overturn the decision but you can give that option a try.

Otherwise, if the letter points to additional verification, then you can address that once you receive it.

Re: CFU 7-10 days message...what next?

My credit history/ profile was very similar to yours when I applied. I had a shorter credit history (< 1y) and 2 cards (discover IT, BOA travel rewards), similar income, but I also recently (1 mo before application) opened a student checking accoutn with chase. My initial message was 30 days, then changed to 7-10. I called, it was a verification issue, I sent in the documents and two days later they approved me with a limit that made me fall out of my chair.

My advice is to call. What I did was call the Robolady, press 0, and tell the CSR "I recently applied for the freedom unlimited card and would like to ask if there is any additional information I could provide?" At this point they'll tell you whether it's verification or denial. If verification, tell them you want to send it via email (instead of fax/ snailmail) and they should link you to an online system, then you can cross your fingers again. If denial, be ready to plead your case (tell them why you want the card, highlight good points on your credit file etc.)! HUCA if necessary. There's also a DP that mentioned after 2 times of failed HUCA, opening a chase checking account and dumping in a bunch of money helps, if you have that to spare on hand (said person got approved when they called again after opening the account).

I can only really say that from what I've seen, Chase highly values customer relationships. Good luck!

Re: CFU 7-10 days message...what next?

Super helpful! I was wondering what documents they actually need for verification if I end up needing to do that? Like proof of income? Also I do have a chase checking account but I only have like $100 in there, I use it to pay rent so I transfer my rent money to that account once a month - would that seem fishy?

CFU: How to verify allowance as income

So for verification, how would I verify my income? I put my total income as $40k, $18k from my scholarship and $23k as allowance from my parents. I have a job that makes like $1-2k so I didn’t even put that on. I made about $4k at my job last year so would I have to send in my W2? Or would I just screenshot my bank account? Also half of my allowance is in a foreign bank account that I have 100% access to in the US, I just don’t want to transfer everything bc im paranoid. Any insight would be super helpful thank you!

If it's a verification request or a request for additional information, it'll be indicated on the letter as far as what acceptable documents can be submitted.

Re: CFU: How to verify allowance as income

Ask them what you need to provide.

For most people it's just a recent pay stub.  In your case you might need statements from the bank accounts you're using.
