CITIBANK RECON??

I finally received a pre-selected mailer for a decent card today. Usually they are for Merrick or Credit One. It was for the Citi Double Cash Card. So I decided it was safe to apply. Sure enough, DENIED! This come right after a denial last night from PenFed for the Promise Visa. So my question is, has anyone had any luck with recon with them? Do I have a better chance being that I was pre selected? Is pre selected the same as pre approved? Does some one have Citi Banks Recon #? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I dont know how Im supposed to build my credit when I get denied for every card I apply for!!  lol

Re: CITIBANK RECON??

You can call the EO at 605-331-1698 between 9 and 4 pm I believe and ask for reconsideration as you already took the HP.  Nothing is guaranteed in life, but nothing ventured nothing gained so give them a ring and ask them to reconsider their decision and they will send it to manual UW and you should here back yes or no within a few days.  Best of luck

Re: CITIBANK RECON??

I was originally declined for the Diamond Perferred and immediately called and talked to the lending dept and begged them. After being put on hold 3 times they came back and approved for 1k. I called and asked for a CLI on activation and got another $500.

It's not much but I got my foot in the door.

It's always worth going for the recon!

Re: CITIBANK RECON??

BTW, pre selected is very different from pre approval. Pre selected is simply that you were on a paid mailing list they bought. They never sp'd you for consideration for a pre selected offer.

Re: CITIBANK RECON??

Call the EO, I was originally declined when I apped for the Citi DC but when I talked to the EO she approved me. Computer automatically denies but the EO can override the denial ... Goodluck!

Re: CITIBANK RECON??

It's worth the recon effort because of the HP being used as CreditCuriousity mentioned. At his point you have nothing to lose, so you might as well make it worth it! Hope it works out.

Re: CITIBANK RECON??

I called and spoke to a polite lady in the EO. She let me do some explaining and said she would look into it, do what she could and call me back in no longer than a few days. Doesn't sound too promising but hey, better than a flat out NO! lol

They will...just got to be more patient. It took me 3-4yrs to get back on my feet in the credit world. The most important thing is...you have to get all your scores above 660s if you have derogs or lates on your reports. And those bad marks need to age. It's hard, but it can be done. Keep your head up!
