I am a little confused! As I said, I was due for a CLI to $500 in May, with the steps program, but I attempted to get an early increase and was declined over "Too many recent inquiries" and this morning when I signed on to pay my bill, my account was raised from $300 to $500 Do you think that maybe they gave me the CLI early for the steps program since they promised the increase to $500 in May? I know it isn't much, but since I am in the garden and working on forming an excellent history of payments and SP CLI's I am thrilled Smiley Happy

It looks like they went ahead and approved your request for an early increase and you should still expect to get the additional 500 from the credit steps increase in May...good luck!!

Re: CLI Denial from Capital One

I'm really on the fence myself as to whether I should attempt a CLI after the 3rd statement to my unsecured Platinum posts in June, given that I'm in the garden. They told me earlier that I'll be getting a $500 Credit Steps increase in September, so I'm mulling over whether I should just stand pat and stick with that or at least ask them in June/July.  If putting in a CLI request means a HP by them, then no dice.

Re: CLI Denial from Capital One

I didn't get a HP with my CLI request. What sucks about Capital One is that I have learned that when you do apply for a card, they pull all 3 CB's. I haven't had any recent inquiries from them, so I believe the CLI request was a SP. I will know in May if I still get my $500 steps increase on top of this.

Your on the fence? Why?

Cap1 is a SP....Get off the fence and press the button after your 3rd statements cuts. They either give you an increase or not. It's not going to affect your credit.

And other thing, stop worrying about HP's. They are over rated. If a bank likes your profile they are going to approve you whether you have a few or 50.

Re: CLI Denial from Capital One

It seems they gave me an early CLI in April, but not another CLI in May for the steps program. I went ahead and hit the LUV button anyway, but got the message that I was recently granted an increase on this account.

Thats not fare becuase I combined 3 cards to my venture to total 21k in the rcent years. So basicly I closed 2 accounts to combine and now they are going to screw me and lower my limit? I only use that card monthly to pay my car insurance.

Well, here goes nothing. My 3rd statement cut on May 8 and I'm well past the 90-day date of card approval (and have just hit the 90-day date for card activation, so wish me luck.

UPDATE: Submitted the CLI, and I got the 2-3 day message. They also say I'll get a letter in 10 business days (not 7-10 days, 10 days specifically). So, success or failure?
