CLI Info (Multiple Banks)

This is not for me. It's for a buddy of mine. He has 7 Cards.

Citi DC Opened 2013 $12,000 (25%)

Citi TYP Opened 2013 ($4,000) (0%)

Discover Opened 2013 ($6,600) (5%)

Chase Opened 2017 ($6,000) (20%)

BoA Opened 2017 ($6,000) (0%)

BestBuy Opened 2018 ($3,000) (0%)

Macy's Opened 2020 ($6,800) (0%)

Which one's may he request CLI's on with SP?

And Discover said he was denied for lack of use. How much should he use at a minimum to get an increase?

He's trying to increase his limits so they can stay below 10% but he doesn't know how to best go about it and I don't either!

Citi (legacy, when SP is available - not Best Buy), Discover, BoA and Macy's (YEMV) are typically SP.

Re: CLI Info (Multiple Banks)

@FinStar On his Citi Cards (the two Legacy's) how do we know if a SP is available? And he can't find a spot on BoA to request? Do you have to call BoA?

Re: CLI Info (Multiple Banks)

When he makes the request online on Citi, it will state if it can proceed "without" pulling your credit bureau.  If it doesn't say that, they will initiate a HP.  Just go slowly and read the text on the website.

For BofA, the lack of the Request Credit Limit Increase doesn't necessarily mean he's not eligible, so he can call and make the request for the CLI and request it via SP.  If he is declined via the SP while on the phone, he can ask for it to be escalated to underwriting for manual review.

For Citi (legacy), once your friend clicks on the CLI request link (on either account), if the verbiage states something to the effect "a credit bureau will not be obtained" that's typically an indication that it'll be a SP.  If it states otherwise, then it's a HP.

For BoA, if the CLI link doesn't display, then yes calling in to request it is the alternate option.

Re: CLI Info (Multiple Banks)

Couldn't he also just call..... speak with a rep & request an increase if they would consider it, with ONLY a soft pull?  I've done that and have been told in advance if that was possible,  or was told they could process it either way, and would do so with only a soft pull.  I recently received an increase from $7,500 to $10,000 doing that with a call..... and plan on doing the same thing on another shortly.
