CLI Requests...Denied...Denied

Well I guess they told me.

Been 6 months since I requested a Cap1 CLI so I decided to put one in. I spend about 1000 to 1600 a month and always PIF.

Limit is 4650.

Got a look for letter notice so I knew what that meant.

So while waiting for letter decided to ask Disco for a CLI.

Spend about 2000 or so a month PIF.

Limit is 5000

Got a look for letter notice so I was like oops kinda sure I know what that means.

Got letter from Cap1 that said:

"Recent usage of credit is too low for an increase"

I imagine Disco will say about the same thing.

Scores all mid 700s+

Utilization 0%

Keep 2 cards with small balances (1 bank-1 store)

Don't have a lot of bills so not really going to spend much more than I do (good place to be in but that will prob. be the reason for any new CLIs coming into fruition)

Zero Inquiries and keeping everything clean for mortgage app sometime next year when market gets more reasonable.

Basically was just trying to increase my padding but oh well.......

Re: CLI Requests...Denied...Denied

DPs from various posters suggests Cap1 wants to see spend of 25-35% your CL for 4+ months before they'll give an increase. Since you're not going to increase your spend, you're probably stuck. At least your limit is reasonable.

I can sympathize. They've never given me a CLI.

@Anonymalous  They gave me 1 CLI 6 months after I had my QS1 then the next CLI was 2 years later.

My Secured Platinum card had it's 1 and ONLY increase after 6 months and stayed secured for 4 Years 3 months.

Sorry you haven't received any CLIs yet perhaps 1 is right around the corner.

@Iusedtolurk, If your looking for Padding, think about a Macy's card!

If you are only approved for a store card, it will grow, and one day it would grow up to be a Macy's Amex.

Lowe's might be a second padding option, but it will never grow up to be a major CC.

Also,  you do not want to have many cards / exposure to Synchrony bank.

@M_Smart007  Oh not really looking for any new HPs until after I do a mortgage next year. Keeping thee old Mortgage scores in good condition. 745-752-782 right now.  Looking for them to get a little higher once I go AZEO.

Then I'll grab a couple cards with good SL. Got a drawer full of Preapprovals from Citi/Amex/NFCU/PenFed/WF etc.

Re: CLI Requests...Denied...Denied

@Iusedtolurk It took me well over one year of denial . . . denial . . . denial before Discover finally approved my CLI. I also agree with @M_Smart007 the best card for padding would be Macy's . . . best wishes!!!

I have had a Cap 1 secured for over 7 years, never missed a payment. Still secured, they wont graduate it. Never missed a payment. I probably opened it when they weren't graduating cards so I wound up closing it. I had a $2,000 deposit on it, I actually asked them if I could lower the limit to $300 and get $1700 back from the deposit. They said that I cant lower the limit on a secured card, which makes absolutely no sense to me but whatever. Axed the card.
