CLI on AMEX?

As you guys know, My mom was just approved for Amex Everyday Preffered with a 10k limit. Amex has her score as a 769. She used to have a Amex charge card back in the 90s. But she wants to see how far she can go with the card. I have read that someone people have gotten CLI upon activation and that some wait until 60 or 61 days to do the 3x CLI. She only wants to double it at most. So what would you guys recommend and also does Amex still backdate to credit reports or no?

Amex ED: 8K, Macys Amex: 4K , BOA Premium Rewards: 60K , Best Buy Visa: 7K , VACU Mastercard: 11.5K Discover: 25K, Amex Delta Reserve 15k, Apple Card:3.5K, Saks WEMC 16.2K, PNC Cash Unlimited: 20K

Re: CLI on AMEX?

I was able to get a nice CLI at activation. It happened to me but I've read that others have been declined. But then again, it's my 1st Amex since I paid them off too. As long as your mom has a positive history with Amex, I don't think it will hurt poking the bear. As always, YMMV.

Will it be another hard pull?

It would be a soft pull. However, it appears that the CLI's on activation have gone the way of the Dodo Bird.

Re: CLI on AMEX?

As long as she's ok with the $10k limit for the next 61 days, I say stick with that and she'll EASILY get the $20k limit she wants and could even request $30k and likely get it with her excellent score.  It's a gamble going for a CLI now as some are flat out denials and others when they do happen aren't near the amount that they can be if you wait 61 days... then you have to wait longer.
