As to when, it's when the "request credit limit increase" in the app isn't grayed out, lol. 91 days, usually, which applies to either card.
Does AMEX actually report a CL? I thought they are the odd ball. Not sure how huge CL helps you with AMEX
If you're asking if Amex reports a CL to the bureaus, they do, with the exception of their NPSL cards. But at least in my case they don't report much else re account's historical data (actual monthly payment, etc.) compared to most other lenders.
Correct that they do not report the monthly balance. They do provide the highest balance reported since the card was opened and if a credit cards they also report the current CL.
@coldfusion What do you mean by they don't report the monthly balance? Are you referring to the NPSL charge cards only? For my regular BCP I see my balance reported monthly on my report along with the highest reported balance.

I noticed the OP noted getting a CLI 5months after the first one. I thought it was 91 days for the first (took me 2yrs before they'd approve me for one cause of my dirty profile), and then 6 months apart after that to request?

Should I take a chance and request another? I don't want to appear desperate for more credit and/or accidentally flag my account, especially with Amex. They don't do a hard pull for an increase request but I'm more concerned about my standing with Amex. I spend about $1-2k a month and pay balance in full. Any suggestions/advice from those familiar with the Amex ecosystem? Thanks!

***Update: Finally decided to go for it and last night submitted an online CLI request from $15k to $20k. I was approved almost instantly, and since this is my first $20k line after 2.5 years of rebuilding, it meant a lot more than just any increase.
As this is the third CLI I've requested/receivedon this card since opening the account 18 months ago, I'm holding off on any future requests (when I'm eligible) until early 2026 at the earliest.
Thanks for the feedback!

They do report the monthly statement balance on my Platinum card, they just don't report a limit since it's a npsl chargecard.
My BCP reports like the normal revolver it is, with statement balance and credit limit.

Correct. The NPSL Amex charge cards do report statement balances. However, they are not considered to be "revolving" accounts and are therefore excluded from utilization calculations. They are still included in the number of accounts with balances calculations.
Ditto @dfwxjer
They report both my bcp and hilton.
