How often do frozen CRs result in denials for SP increases? I know it *shouldn't*, but does it ever? I'm not going to be looking for anything new for at least a year, but might go for some CLIs.

Also, do they ever try again if the report is frozen or do they just decline and move on?

Thanks

The letter says to unfreeze and have 30 days to do it. If no action no harm no foul.

Re: CLIs from US Bank

I just did a cli to a cash + for a friend a week ago and there was no hp.  $10k -> $15K done via the portal.  not much spend through it, income $160K, account is ~2.5 years old.  the previous cli in 1/2019 was a hp.

Seems like it. There was reportedly a small period where they had language that indicated hard or soft pull, but that was replaced by hard pull only language again. I think I'm going to just sit with $5k limit on the Altitude Go for awhile and work on the other cards with whatever soft pulls I can get instead. Won't ever need more than that for the food/bar spend that I have.

This week, I was at 180+ days and 6 statements, so I requested a CLI via online and was denied. There was only HP language. All 3 bureaus are locked. I received a TU alert. I will probably just leave it be for now.

IME, yes but I've gotten SP CLI's every 6 or 7 months. Every time I got a HP it was a denial....

Re: CLIs from US Bank

I just did a credit limit increase request with U.S. Bank for my platinum Visa and was instantly notified (by American Express) that a hard pull attempt hit TransUnion (but my credit was frozen).

Background:  I got my U.S. Bank Platinum card on Feb 20, 2020 (8 mos) with a $9,900 starting limit.  I immediately transfered over $9k for the 18 month zero APR on balance transfers (a week or so later they went 20 months and I was unable to recon to 20 months, though I tried).  Anyhow, my balance was $9270 after the 3% transfer fee (high utilization, I know).  In the 8 months I've paid it down to $3267 (33% utilization) and will have it to $2700 by the end of November (27% utilization).

Today, at 33% utilization and 8 months, I attempted, reading on here that some people had good luck after six months for a soft pull.  I entered my income and my monthly house payments, and if I owned or rented my house, and submitted it.  It told me underwriting would look it over and get back to me.  I then checked my email and American Express notified me that there was activity on my credit report, which I saw was the hard pull.

I assume I'll be denied the credit limit increase due to my credit being frozen, but at least I attempted it and my credit was frozen.  I just wanted to get an increase to be under 30% utilization now, as I want to app for another AmEx card and a Chase card.  Oh well.  I'll just wait.  No harm, no foul, but I thought y'all would like to know this info on this thread.

Re: CLIs from US Bank

Appreciate the info! Got me curious on what I'll see. Definitely won't be unlocking my reports for any CLIs though.

Re: CLIs from US Bank

My Cash+ request had hp language (consent to pull credit required), however I received an instant $5k SP CLI.  It's a roll of the dice.
