WEIRD.....Was approved for Gander mnt visa per Shopping cart trick for 2k on 12/31.....called today to see about shipping status, was informed they closed the account yesterday? WHAT? Have several comenity cards ..never a problem...Sportsman Guide 3800.....Overstock 4500...wayfair  2800....Anyone ever experience this? Went on GM site, added some items in cart...pre-approval for mastercard popped up AGAIN...WASSUP

Sorry that you had to experience the Comenity Bank SCT.  Has been happening recently where they close the account for too many INQs and/or too many new accouns in a short period of time.

Don't know why they persist in opening an account just to close it.  I have several accounts with them, but I don't have any plans open anything else.

Keep moving forward OP.  There are better cards out there for you.

When did Gander Mountain become a SCT?  I was looking at it for a year and always read it was an in store approval card.

This starts  when you get visa /mc with them. store cards don't trigger it. I have 70+ inq and 20+ new acc on each birou,in 12 months and no accounts closed from them.Stay away from their visa / mc.

Just did the SCT.  It worked.  Don't know when they began doing that.  I have 2 Comenity co-branded cards.  We have a Gander Mountain in town but I have way more credit than I need.

The closer your EQ score gets to 700, then the Visa/MCs show up on some cards, but YMMV.  The risk is closure like what happened to OP.

I love my Cabela's card.  I would say go for it..  I have had no problems thus far with Cabela's.  The only thing I don't like right now is it's a HP for a CLI, however, hopefully that will change when everything is switched over to Capital One.

Another note, I did not know until I tried to place a order with Gander Mountain that if you have the store card it can only be used in the store.  You cannot make online purchases with the store card, only with the Master Card.

Cabela's, since it is a Visa you can use it everywhere.
