CSP application declined due to approval of Freedom

After browsing this forum for a few weeks, I decided to look into getting a Chase card. I applied for a Chase Freedom card and was instantly approved with a $3,000 CL. Immediately after, I applied for a CSP card and was given the "30 days" message. After calling the reconsideration line, I was told something to the effect of "We have declined your application for this card because we see that you have just opened a line of credit (Chase Freedom) with us and would like to build a relationship with you before granting more credit." When I asked if there were any factors affecting this decision (credit score, lack of history, etc) he said no.

The CSP was my first choice, so I regret applying for the Freedom first; it sounds like I would have been approved otherwise. I travel quite a bit for work and could have taken advantage of the rewards on airfare. I I have two questions:

1. Has anyone in a similar situation been successful in getting your decision reconsidered?
2. Assuming I can't reverse the decision, how long should I wait before re applying for the CSR?

Transunion: 720
Equifax: 688
Hard Inquiries: 3

Thanks!

Re: CSP application declined due to approval of Freedom

People have reported to see some pre-approvals show up in their chase accounts within 1 - 4 months after opening a card with them.... this is all based on your file though of course....

I would wait til you see those pre approvals in your account before you apply for anything else with them as I will be doing the same because I just opened a Freedom card a few weeks back myself ...
