Re: CSP or Amex? Not sure

Interesting, maybe I'll just garden for awhile with my three cards, maybe see if Chase is feeling nice with a SP CLI

FAKOs on CK are 750 and 740

Did the $1 deal on TU and got a 797 out of like 950

Credit Sesame shows 750

Experian shows 750 as well with their $1 deal

Student

30k a year, large student loans (going to be paying down a LARGE portion this next year)

AAoA is 1 year 10 months

Cards are currently

Best Buy - 3k

Chase Freedom - 5400

Discover IT - 3400

Thinking since Chase pulls TU in Indiana (TU only shows 2 INQ), maybe ask for CLI on Freedom and CSP app all in one night, hope for a one pull? I'd like to get in with Amex as well but will probably garden for a year or so whichever card I decide to go with. I've had the Freedom for 6 months now. Or maybe I should just garden for a year anyways, pay down loans, then go on a mini spree? I'd hit the spending limit on the CSP easily as we're going on a trip here soon and I have money saved up, but maybe gardening is just worth the wait. I've usually waited 6 months if not more in between any apps.

You would be approved for the CSP. Did you check their prequal site?

You do realize that often times chase pulls two bureaus, right???

What credit card do you really need, realistically? How do you spend most of your money and what do you spend it on? I would assume you are enrolled in 0 apr for 12 on purchases and the double cash back, right? That basically means you will get 2% back on everything. When did you last request a CLI from discover?

Find out on the forum what the guidelines are for CLI with best buy.

If its a bonus that you are even considering this for.... then I would go with Amex. Get on their prequal site, click around on the ones you want, then watch offers come in the mail. Then back to back app for one charge and one revolver if they still have the 50k prg bonus. Then you would have 60k, potentially 75k points instead of 40. Also their ED card is basically 1.2 per dollar on everything and 2.4 in groceries. Not bad for a student.

You of course should app for the barclays sallie mae card as its geard for students. They cap their 5 percent at 250 for gas/groceries but 750 for books/amazon (altho ur discover card is the best bet for amazon assuming u are in double cash)

Re: CSP or Amex? Not sure

To be honest I'd like to start acquiring air miles and miles in general. I plan and have started saving to travel after school and would like to start saving.

No I'm not in the double cash, right not using 5% on freedom for gas, but spending will be low just for this month. Saw it was for new members only on double cash. I spend majority of money on gas but will be making a few decent sized purchases outside of that within the next few months

Re: CSP or Amex? Not sure

When I got my CSP approved at 18 I had an income of 22k. you should be totally fine. Since you have the freedom I 100% reccommend getting the CSP over any amex cards. I value UR points way more than MR. Also it makes ur freedom soooo much more valuable.

Re: CSP or Amex? Not sure

Well if you think about it with a CSP, now those 5X categories are now earnign lets say 5 united miles per dollar or 5 SW or 5 BA per dollar. Thats really hard to beat. and lets say i value a united mile at 1.5ccp then ur looking at 7.5%  reutrn. Thats pretty darn good for a No AF freedom card (yes i know you technically pay the af with the CSP).

Re: CSP or Amex? Not sure

Do you guys think the Blue Cash Everyday is the card for me then? Will use the grocery store part a lot, and gas will revolve on my 5% between Discover and Chase. I know most people like UR over MR and I like Chase's setup better Freedom CSP.

I want to start saving up mileage, but I'm going to do that, I'll do it when I get my CSP. Should I garden longer, go for CSP now, or go Blue Cash Everyday and then CSP down the line?
