I was bored the other night, so I went around checking for prequalified offers. Chase told me I was prequalified for two. One was the CSP. I didn't feel like cancelling my CS card then waiting a few days to apply. Could it be possible the reason for the 30 days for a decsion in writing is because I have the CS? I did some research and found when getting that notice when checking status that it should be waited out. But in this case, should I call them to explain what is going on?
Where are you getting the 30 day message? From the phone status, or the email you got?
The phone status, in my experience, is the one to pay attention to.
30 days typically means an underwriter needs to look at your file or there are issues re: identity verification.
If you know your file is strong, call (especially if you're under 5/24). If you just moved or think there's a reason your ID got flagged, call.
Otherwise, wait it out. If the phone status says 7-10 days, most likely a denial. Anecdotal evidence suggests two-week message can go either way.
I doubt the CS has anything to do with it.
The 30 day decsion notice is on the phone (I periodically have called the last two days) and email. I am guessing a person can't have bot the Sapphire and the Sapphire preferred. I haven't moved in the past two years. I don't think there should be any identity issues. My scores are high enough last I checked.
I don't see any reason why you can't have both. Plenty of people have Freedom/Freedom Unlimited. And plenty of people will have CSP/CSR.
Thank you for the info. If that is the case, then I should follow the advise I found in my research, which is to wait it out. They may not want to give me the CL that is required for this card. My income may not support it since I already have three chase cards (the Sapphire, freedom, and Amazon). Two of them are visa signature.
Up to you (I do *not* have that kind of patience -- haha). If you do end up calling, though, and that's the issue, you will more than likely be asked to reallocate limits from your current cards (if you'd like) to open the CSP. It's not necessarily a dealbreaker.
I don't really have the patience either, BUT I also don't want to cause the denial by calling. From what I read, they ask a bunch of questions. I think one is "why do you want this card?" I don't have an answer because I kind of just kind of did it for the heck of it. If what I read is fairly accurate - that the 30 day notice leans towards approval - then maybe I have a good chance.
Absolutely. If it makes you nervous, wait it out. Good luck!
I dont get it.. How is the Chase prequal working for you guys?
It says sorry we are unavailable..
hmm.
