CSR Application

I already have Freedom and CSP. Scores are around 720. I just applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve online and got the 30 days message. Immediately after that called the application status line which gave me the 7-10 days message. Is it a denial? Should I call recon or wait for a decision?

Re: CSR Application

How many cards have you applied for in the last two years?  Limits on current Chase cards and how old is your credit history?

Re: CSR Application

I opened 4 cards in the past 2 years. one of them has been closed for more than a year now. I was also AU on a card that was opened less than 2 years ago, but removed myself as AU last year.

Freedom limit is 3k. CSP limit is 8k. Never asked Chase for CLI.

My oldest account is 6 years old and AAOA is 3.5 years.

Re: CSR Application

Call the recon line. Is the AU card still showing on your report? If it is, it might affect the 5/24 rule. IF it is still on there, just tell them you were an AU and it should of been off your report already, so you'd still be under 5/24. If it's not that, then you might have hit the max amount of credit that Chase is willing to extend to you. If that's the case, you could ask them to move your available credit around from your other Chase cards to open up the CSR. Remember, the minimum for the CSR is 10k. Is your highest limit card 8k?

Re: CSR Application

The AU card is still showing on my report as closed.

My highest limit with chase is 8k, but I have 25k and 30k limits on other cards.

Re: CSR Application

Thanks. I called 888-270-2127 and heard that I was denied due to too many cards openned recently. The lady was not friendly at all. I asked her to review again and let me explain about the cards I opened. She said there is no possibility for reconsideration!! Didn't even let me explain anything!

Should I call again to find someone more friendly? Should I call the same number or is there a better one?

Agreed, some analysts are such asshats. Call again until you speak to someone that is not only helpful, but knowledgeable. Just be friendly yourself, not demanding.

Re: CSR Application

do not give up. it took me a double pull, and  5 recon calls back in 2015 when i double app'd ihg/hyatt. I was told I was foolish by a chase rep for even thinking I could qualify for either of these cards. They each had minimum 5k starting limits (FALSE on the IHG) and that I did NOT have enough credit history to handle such a product. Well was unlucky got hte same person a different time on a different day, yikes!  finally the person said, I dont know what their problem was, you are just fine, you have banked with us previously and took care of any balances, etc, so you are approved at 5k with IHG (had i known I should not have called ((pre524)) they would have approved me for both I am sure.

In this case we have a bonus at hand. You applied before the bonus changed so thats important. 2nd important thing is if this ends up not working, you can always try again in march. But I think you need to try a different number. Call the chase eo in chicago first thing tomorrow morning.  Plead your case.

You have to make sure they understand that is an AU card, and promptly get it removed, there is a chance 30 days from when you applied that removal can be finalized for them to see.  But generally speaking chase recon can distinguish that and usually wouldnt deny a person for just specificaly AU. State your plans for the card. Be polite. Speak highly of the bank.  If not try again in march, if all else fails move on to other banks.

Re: CSR Application

Thank you jfriend!

I called the recon line three times. I didn't get a helpful analyst the first two times, but didn't give up. Third time's the charm, right? I finally got someone who was willing to listen and help. I explained about the AU card and she put me on hold to review my report then came back and asked a few questions and then said she does see the AU card that has been closed and she can reactivate my application and review it manually. A few minutes on hold again and then she said she can approve CSR for 10k right then if I agree to move 6k from my CSP. Not very bad, but I didn't agree to that. I asked if she can approve it without moving any CL around. Another few minutes of wait and then she told me that she has added all the notes she needed and the application has to be reviewed again to see if I will get approved without moving any CL and that I will hear from them in 2 weeks.

Still not sure if it's going to be approved but at least I bypassed the 5/24.  Called the automated status line an hour later and the message was changed from 7-10 days to 30 days. Good sign, right? Let's wait and see what happens. Smiley Happy
