Creditaddict I would call again speak to another rep don't give up, I too app'd denied received 7-10 day email message over 5/24, next day called to do product change from csp 1st rep going through steps willing to do so then put me on hold came back and said he was not able to.  Hung up phone called right back again spoke with another rep and she was able to product change to the new csr, to add the second rep almost told me the same not able to do but she found a link further down on the computer screen where she was able to do so.  Have to have 10K limit total.  Good Luck

Product change is not what he's after.  With that you don't get the 100K bonus.  It's not hard to product change one of your existing Chase cards if you have the $10K limit.  Getting approved when you're over 5/24 is entirely different story.

This^^^

We already product changed my partners Freedom Unlimited to the CSR... I was trying to get myself one with the bonus.

Still debating rather we really each need one in our own name and pay AF with no bonus... I'm thinking that's no unless I was going to give up my Ritz Card... Which currently don't think I want to do that either!

No biggie and a PC is what a lot of people over 5/24 are having to do.  I'm debating doing that myself as I am way over and the nearest Chase branch to me is 175 miles away

I applied and after just 2 days it was declined so I called into credit to see about a recon or to move CL from my United and open it... he stated credit was not used (despite that they pulled it!) and it was only declined for 5/24 and they could not reconsider the application or have the option to move CL from any of my current chase cards.

I clearly have read some that have gotten by the 5/24 but not nearly as far by as I would have been if I had gotten it but it just seems like Chase is shooting themselves in the foot on this one.

If I wanted to pay the $450 AF I would give it a go... lol.

...by making it harder for churners, bonus chasers, and people who spread their spending across 50 cards to get one?

I don't like the 5/24 rule, but that doesn't mean it's not rational for Chase.

Have to agree. We hate 5/24, but it makes perfect sense for Chase. People don't really "need" more than 5 cards in 24 months. Chase wants long term loyal cardholders and they are being aggressive about enforcing it.

In any event, OP, I'm really surprised you of all people didn't already know that 5/24 is non negotiable with recon and that this card was under it. Traditional recon tactics like moving limits don't help with 5/24. The exceptions have all been branch preapprovals. Since you had no branch preapproval I wouldn't have even bothered applying as all indications are you are SOL without a preapproval and over 5/24.

All they mean by "credit not used" is that your actual creditworthiness has no bearing on the decision. It's all about 5/24.

Lol I have the feeling I can get aacepted for this card even with me being over the 5/24 rule... That being said I have no interest in this card and won't be applying for it. Might app for the CSP since its been 2 years since I got ny old one and perhaps see if it is better than my Citi TY premier in terms of my usage ... Already made the AF's worth of points on my Premier.

Why PC to it? Waste IMHO when they are offering 100,000 points in a signup bonus..

Re: CSR Denied and no option for recon!

For what it's worth, even without the 100k bonus, the AF is covered if you get the card by the end of the year.

Just in the travel credit alone.

Re: CSR Denied and no option for recon!

Instead of Chase using a "5/24" rule wouldn't it be easier and more beneficial to look at "quantity of closed accounts and timeframe" ??? It would be much easier to find "churners" from closed accounts vs many newly opened accounts, especially on these high AF card's. From almost everything I've read, true "churners" open many accounts to gain the sign on bonuses and normally close them out prior to the one year anniversary and recurring AF being charged. While I've opened many new cards in the past two year's, I've only closed one account, my horrendous Credit One. I haven't opened a single account I don't plan to use and keep for many years to come, unless the benefits were to change drastically.
