After reading around online I thought applying in branch could often times bypass 5/24 due to different system they use. I did this recently. Got 30 day. Called in and they said declined for too many accounts open in last 2 years. My banker claimed he had never heard of or had any idea what 5/24 was. I was astonished by this. Ganna go back in after I get the letter in the mail to see if anything else can be done. My banker seemed pretty clueless though as if he had no experience doing this. He was probably just tired of all the applications. Told me that 30 or 40 people had applied for CSR with him over the last 2 days.

Applying in branch bypass 5/24 only when if you are pre approved for a card.. if not then it is same as online application as far as 5/24 rule is considered..

And Chase has removed pre approvals for CSR for the time being.. so as far as I know there is no way to bypass 5/24 even in branch if applying for CSR..

Branches I have visted in my area, bankers know about this and ready to help me get approved before the 100K bonus expires

@I think you are wrong and I have a bunch of friends with shiny new csrs to support this.  there is no way to know what is happening behind the curtain.  to me it seems they have taken away the visual pre-approval but it still exists in the background.  the reality to me is that if your profile supports the card it will be yours.  its a flipping hp, 2 @ most, big picture who really cares, hps mean nothing compared to the rest of the pie.  do as you will, good luck

I hear you.. I think you are right, bourgogne.. I can relate your words with what bankers in two different branches told me. They told me the same thing, if you are pre approved for CSP and given that you have been a loyal customer for quite a few time and your existing Chase card is in pretty good standing, chances are you should be approved for CSR as well.. I will give it a try and see what happend next

Yah, I got pretty unlucky. My chase banker was terrible... really unhelpful. When you say your bankers know about this and are ready to help. What do you mean? Help how? Wondering how I should proceed with this at this point.

I have been to two different branches and bankers told me they are aware about 5/24 and explained in detail how this works, which cards are included and which are excluded. When I explained my situation they checked the system and told me that although we cannot see a pre approval for CSR but since you are preapproved for CSP and other Chase cards, chances are you should be good with CSR and if at all System auto deny you we are here to explain your situation to underwriters and ask for one time exception for your case and have you approved for this card.

My situation, as I explained to banker, is as follows

I have been banking with Chase for 9 months now and direct depositing my salary in Chase. I also have a Freedom card with them for 9 months, average monthly spending is 1000-1500$ which I have been paying in full. I am at 6/24 now, but within next 3 months I will be 2/24.. The reason I opened so many accounts in past so as to establish my credit because I was new to credit at that time.. Once my credit was established I have opened only 2 cards in last 20 months.

Re: CSR, should I apply?

I know I have been asking too many questions here Smiley Happy

Just curious if any balance on my Freedom card will make any difference? My last statement balance was around 1500-1600$ which I already PIF, after that I spend around $1800+ in my current Statement. So before I apply for CSR, should I pay this off prior to my next Statement closure (Mar 10)?

Smiley LOL I will apply after March 3.. so if they follow EX report I will be at 5/24 with one Store only card.. and if denied or they use EQ report for calculating 5/24 then I will have 30 days as on April 3 I will be at 4/24 with store only card still part of 4/24.

Just taking precautions to make sure I do everything I can to get approved.
