CSR, should I apply?

Re: CSR, should I apply?

I'm pre-approved for CSP when I take a look at my Chase account online. I already have 4 cards with them including Hyatt, CSP, United MileagePlus, and Slate. I applied for a CSR in-branch, have a credit rating of 725, some high utilization on some non-chae cards and one Chase card due to balance transfers that make no sense to pay off now (3% annualized interest).

Nonetheless, I was denied - told that I applied for "too many cards in the last 2 years" - I checked my credit report and see that this is not true in regards to 5/24 ! Can anyone advise? On my credit report I have had 3 inquires from Chase and 1 from Macy's in the last 2 years. I called reconsideration and they said there's no appealing for "too many cards" - am I out of luck?

This is weird.. I would say call the backdoor number again ask them specifically how much "too many" means, bankers in my area clearly told me that this "too many" is 5.. so if they deny you based on "too many", you should be able to discuss with them like what all accounts they see opened in last 2 years..

One more thing, since you open the account in branch, I would recommend go to the same banker who submitted your request, explain your situation and let him/her do the talking with underwriters. All the best

Thanks for your swift reply:

My history is :

Date of Request         Entity

02/27/2017                  Chase         [This is the inquiry which was the application for today]

02/03/2017                  Macy's

09/09/2015                  Chase

05/11/2015                  Chase

02/13/2015                  Chase          [This is more than 2 years ago, but it says the inquiry will drop off in March 2017 Smiley Indifferent]

I'll go through my banker tomorrow to have him call. Just stopped by and he told me he can't guarantee anything but will try.

I have currently four Chase cards and am more than happy to cancel or move around credit on a card to get to the $10k point.

Another option was to wait 90 days and apply again, but then there goes the 100k bonus for applying in branch.

Hmmm

I believe Chase Inquiry from 02/13/2015 should have been fallen off from your credit card.. Although Credit Reprots shows Removed by next month but they are almost always removed as soon as 2 years completes.. I also had a Chase Inquiry from 02/17/2015 on both EX & EQ, and they both have been removed.

And I assume you do not have any other accounts from any lender in last 2 years except Macy's and three other Chase cards.. You can also recon based on the fact that Macy's is a store card and cannot be used outside the store..

Also please be advised that Chase 5/24 is all about accounts opened in last 24 months, not the inquiries.. As far as I know Chase is not that much sensitive with inquiries..

About CSR 100k signup bonus, I share your concern and that is why initiated this thread, don't want to miss this just because in 20 days my status will change from 6/24 to 4/24 Smiley Happy

Re: CSR, should I apply?

I am currently in the same boat. Im at 5/24 as of today.

After March 6th I will be at 3/24 when both of my chase cards turn 2 years old.

I plan to visit the branch on March 11th and apply for the CSR. I want the 100k in points lol

Please update when and if you are approved. I have my fingers crossed. I plan to sit with a banker and open a Chase relationship with a decent deposit. I hope my banker goes to bat for me Smiley Happy

IMO you are in pretty good shape compared to me.. I am 6/24 and will be 4/24 only on April 4

I will apply on Mar 6 considering if they deny in initial recon I will have 30 days to recon and be under 5/24, hope that works out

For your case I believe you will be instantly approved and you can visit as early on March 7, no need to wait till Mar 11 I think.. All the best

Re: CSR, should I apply?

I must wait to visit March 11th as I have to go on a Saturday due to work.

I will update you if I am approved. The closest Chase is 2.5 hrs away but I do have a $350 sign up offer for a Chase ckg and sav acct so I plan to get that as well.

If I get a 7 day message with the banker after application, what should I do? Have them call, wait it out, call recon number myself, or wait until April and call recon then?

Thanks!

Re: CSR, should I apply?

I also made a large payment on my cap one CC to get utilization down. Statement cuts on the fourth. Been carrying 0% balance but bit the bullet as I really want this card. It should be under 50% once the statment cuts.

Alright I see.. good for you if your Chase branch is open on Sunday..

I understand your situation but I would not recommend visiting a branch on Sat/Sun as underwriters do not work on weekends, and for CSR an instant decision might not come from system..

I am assuming you should be good and be approved without any hassle. When I applied my Freedom, I turned 4/24 on the same day and a day before I was 5/24 and I was approved with no issues whatsoever.. So what I think is, its not when the inquiry will fall off from your report, its the date account was opened.

And I would suggest go for 500 Checking+savings instead of 350.. here is the link http://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-500-checking-savings-bonus-now-publicly-available-branch/ enjoy Smiley Happy

Re: CSR, should I apply?

That would be awesome to do the $500 route. I tried the link and it opens the page but it says the code is unaviable.

Im gonna call the branch I plan to visit.
