Back in March I got two mailers from citi. The Home Depot pre selected and the diamond preferred. I took Home Depot as I was thinking high limit. But I got 2k. After they wanted another hp soon as I got card in hand I said no way. You just st pulled it a week ago. They wanted me to unfreeze eq. Anyway. My brother had same pre selected and went for diamond preferred. He got 1k limit. I put mine in shredder. Now for the life of me on their pre qual site I can't get anything. I will even take simplicity if I must. I have best buy mastercard plat. No AF. And HD what's a person to do? Cold app?  Not happening. How reliable is ther pre approval site. I know chase reliable. Discover and boa sucks. Cap one goid. But citi. I have no ideal. I did not have this hard of a time for my amex

You may apply for it straight out if your profile supports it.  One thing though, if you've had a recent flurry of new accounts and inquiries to boot, you may want to hold off until the dust settles.

Not many. Just 2 cards this year. And 3 inquiries in last 6 months.

Dang you have been a good kid compared to the other 3 posters thus far in the thread and I am one of them Smiley Tongue.

Hey now I resent that :-). The number of new accounts and inquiries I have/had didn't seem to affect Citi one bit.

This is true... You earned it! Smiley Tongue..

Ummm... yeah, I got approved for Prestige way after Irish, no issues on my end as far as inquiries or new accounts either Smiley Wink

Ya as Irish stated once your scores/profile hit a certain point inquiries and new accounts don't really matter near as much... when you are in the high 600's to low 700's they will throw anything they can at you to decline you especially if you have been seeking credit rapidly..  See me as prime example of this case.

Can't wait to be in the upper 700's so I don't have to deal with it near as much and have to "recon".. I gotta do my time just like everyone else has that did mistakes in the past and this I accept, just kick and scream along the way

Agreed- impact of all kinds of issue has to be put in context of your overall score and profile. Kind of like boiling points changing at different elevations. Smiley Happy

So, are you considering Ring, Citi DP and BBVA NBA AMEX for any specific purpose (i.e. BT)?  Has your debt/utilization spiked up?  Any specific benefits you are looking for with either of those you've mentioned in recent threads?

Re: Can't get citi pre approval?

No. Nothing spiked up. In fact. Every thing went down. I'm down to less than 10% util. Paid off mostly everything. Score is rising. But in this order. I don't want all 3.
Ring. If can't have. Would go for a citi as no prime relationship with them. Other than Home Depot and beat buy. Consolation prize would be bbvd. As they pull transunion. As alast resort. I'm only 6k away from the magical 100k. Except Macy's. And diners are hidden. So no affect on util. But ring would be great to carry balance. My lowest apr is 11.99. On my Gte. But low limit. 4k. Next. Is diners club. 13.15%. But only 5k. I need something for travel like Amex. But with 10k plus limit. That's all I'm looking for. Really low apr is priority.

Oh I see.  I was merely curious since you kinda bounced off with different cards that you were looking for but didn't mention whether it was for APR purposes or high SL.  Ok, well whichever product you decide on applying, best of luck taxi!

Re: Can't get citi pre approval?

Well since I said this. I got letter. Saying my final negative will be deleted. I'm hope for 80 point boost. At least 750 across the board. Then I can get the ring and be done with credit cards. Thanks fin.

Re: Can't get citi pre approval?

Well, that's excellent news taxi! Wait until all your scores are optimized across the board and confirm that the derogatory item is removed. Even if the boost is not exactly 80 points (keep in mind rebucketing), any boost is good. Then, once everything is in the clear, apply for Ring (oh, and please leave the chickens in the coop) Smiley Wink

Ok. im not sure what to actually think. as i got the letter yesterday. you can find it in the Rebuilding thread. rebucketing. Geez. so even though my report will be 100% Clean i should not expect a big boost?. currently scores  are 663 eq.. 689 tu. and 691 ex. so im hoping for at least. 740s

Not sure. as my AAoA is toast. so im not gonna apply for anthing. however. in the letter. it states. it will take 6-8 weeks for the deletion to reflect on my credit rport is this normal? and that the letter they sent is verification for the deletion. if i don't hear anything in that time frame. should i dispute?. not sure. as ive never walked down this road before.

let me know finstar. need little advice.

here is info on thread i posted after i got letter. Thanks.

Re: Can't get citi pre approval?

I wouldn't worry about rebucketing at this point, it's simply the after effects since this would be a change in your overall credit profile. It's hard to predict the "boost" since the algorithms play a big part on this. I'm just happy to learn that it's going to be removed.

Now, thankfully you have the information in writing which confirms the deletion of the item and the approximate timeframe. I believe the language of the letter is pretty standard. Perhaps others who have had a similar situation can opine on this piece. Maybe it won't take that long for it to be removed.

I assume you have a monitoring service that provides frequent updates depending on any changes that occur on your CRs.

I know patience is not exactly your best friend but in this case I'm thinking there aren't any shortcuts, unless some folks can provide otherwise Smiley Happy

Yes, I have plenty of monitoring. im patient for sure if something like this comes up. I was sure this would not be gone until jan 2017. so i really had no expectations.

6 more weeks is small in the scheme of things. but the letter is dated . 5-18. so thats where my count begins. if i hear nothing by 7-18. i will call and dispute on all 3. as the letter says. if i have further questions. contact the cra's. which i most certainly will if it does not come off in the next 7 weeks. thanks again.
