Ugh I have been so obsessed with approvals and getting top tier cards that scores have dropped from low 700's to mid 600's due to all the inquires and my AAoA dropping to a year and a couple months. I know it's reading these forums and seeing all these approvals and cards I want but it's starting to affect me negatively I am going to have to stay off the forums for at least 6-12 months and let everything grow and the inq's to fall off. I have 51 inq's on my equifax and 34 on my TU and who knows how many on experian. I have most of the cards I have wanted for a long time so I should be good, just gotta learn some self control. It's so easy to get caught up with wanting every card out there and the addiction to the approval screen is crazy!!
I appreciate all I've learned from the forums and all the advice I've gotten from everyone! I will be back next year, best of luck to you all!
I can agree, applying for cards is addictive. I know about it first hand. My last app was about two weeks or so ago when I obtained the Macy's card. It is something hard to stop, as someone has said we get used to seeing approved all the time. It is nice to get approvals but you need to think about scores, how other lender will take all the new account openings and etc.
Due to this I cannot get my Barlcay's card to grow because I have too many inq and newly opened accounts. I have learned so much as well here, It is a part of my daily routine to log into the forums and learn something new. I take that information and advise others that does not know, when I am asked. One other thing is I try to stay out of the approval section of the forums.
I wish you the best.
All those inquiries and according to your Siggy ........ Nothing to show for it.. I'm assuming more denials than approvals ?
yes you need to garden and so do I and many others ..... Yes it's fun and exciting but in reality, after a certain point, we are
doing more harm than good.......... Join the Garden thread ....... Great place to be
You can always freeze your reports making it to where you have to pay to unfreeze before you can apply for something. The temptation would have to really be over powering at that point.
You'll stop when the rejections start. And then you'll feel remorse

+1 From the OP signature it looks like he (or she) has about 16-18 cards...and mentioned that they have 51 and 34 inquiries respectively....I'd say the rejection has already started.
You should definitely garden! Unless you want to start seeing AA from current creditors
I know it can be so hard!!!!! especially when you start getting some good offers in the mail. In the beggining what stopped me was I kept getting low SL. I waited it out a bit just app'd for 3 cards in April and two of them gave me a SL of $6,000 or more that makes it worth the wait...and you got to love instant approvals the rush is awesome! My score has taken a hit though!! I am back in the garden again now for a while. I am focused on bulding up my credit limits with some sp CLI's and my AAoA.
Staying off the forum helps but youll find yourself wondering, I wonder what scores needed for that card, or I wonder which bureau that company pulls!
i cut down but not out, if you cut it out, your outa the loop!
I did what your doing, 730s down to 630s. Just got another card the other day and broke my year gardening
(Thatll teach my wife to laugh and say I could not get approved for the 1 card she has, that I didnt have! *WEMC Buypower*)
