Cap 1 (According to Exec Office)

Well i emailed the EO to see when i could be approved for another one of their cards. Short story i have two charge offs with the company, one is paid and the other is almost paid. The unpaid account charged off in October '15.

Well i spoke with a nice lady, she goes on to explain that they don't have a certain period as to when someone with past/present chargeoff can apply. She kept saying its based on your credit worthiness. She said there are many customers with CO's who have been approved. Sigh!

They didn't even pull my credit when i applied for the secured card way back when. Based on experience should i wait a year to apply again? I heard that's the rule, no CO's within the last year.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cap 1 (According to Exec Office)

I started witha secured while I had capital one charge offs on file back in 2013 with scores starting in the low 500's. Everyone is different but I would say go for the platinum first if you want to play it safe so you don't get roped into the secured product. You can always grow the platinum and convert it later. There are changes being made to the secured product soon and within days...might even be today, you won't be able to add a deposit anymore. Might be in your best interest to keep an eye on he site and this board and see if any new rebuilder is offered.

I tried the quicksilver one today, still got the instant denial...waiting for the email to login and see the letter, I doubt they pulled my credit.

Call them and see if they will use the pull to approve you for any other products.

ok, i'll give it a shot, but i think it's internally getting denied by the system. Maybe i should call and complete an app?

If you are being denied instantly without any credit pulls then you are on their blacklist. There rule is typically one year needs to pass from your last CO before they will approve for a new card, the exception to this sometimes is if one has filed a BK they might decide to issue a new account as soon as one apps for it post BK discharge.

Thanks gdale...yeah i spoke with an account product specialist, and she told me that it was more than likely being denied due to the unpaid CO, she urged me to take care of that and give it a few weeks to make sure they are updated on their end, then to reapply.

I'll probably just wait out the year, that gives time for my new account to age and scores to grow...sometimes seeing all the approvals and hype of others gets me anxious. lol

Patience is key, i know!

Re: Cap 1 (According to Exec Office)

I feel your pain! I don't know if this will help but you should try their Pre Qual site (Link Here :   https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/ )

I have a Cap1 CO & a judgement from them through the courts that are somewhat older (2010) and with #'s very similar to yours (thought they were much higher 'cause I was looking at FAKO's). After reading many threads here I went to that link last week, put in minimal info and app'ed both the Platinum and QS1 and was approved for both. Got them today with $500 on each!!! They are SP's unless you are approved and then you will get the HP ding for following through.

Yeah, you'll probably have to wait out the year.  In the terms for applying for a card, it says as specifically that a current past due or a charge off within the past year makes someone not eligible for an offer (ignore the green underline, this screenshot was from a different point I was making and I'm being a little lazy about grabbing new screenshot. hahaha)
