Re: Cap 1 CLI denial AGAIN

They'll also never graduate your Platinum. My record's pristine and my FICOs are in the mid-700s to 800s. They won't do it. I look at my secured Platinum in the sock drawer as a reminder of the old days. I'd get out of that AF QS1 and see if you can PC it into a Quicksilver.

Re: Cap 1 CLI denial AGAIN

I've given up on Cap1. Had my QS1 for almost 4 years and only received 2 increases, both auto. When I try, my reasons for denial are average monthly payment too low and use of existing limit is too high. I have no idea what they're talking about. It had a 0 balance on it until about 30 mins ago, and I always pay between 4-16x the minimum payment. When I called in, they couldn't understand why I wasn't getting approved and had to escalate it. That was a week ago, no call back or email. Over it.

Re: Cap 1 CLI denial AGAIN

Hi All... I've had a Cap1 cards for almost 4 years now.

It started as a Plat in the Steps program and several months down the road was PC'd into a QS and eventually grew to a sl of $4500. In the middle of 2016 I had a financial rough spot and carried a $3k+ balance with them for quite a while.

They stuck it out with me as I never missed a payment. I consistantly paid the minimum payment + the interest and rounded up every month. I eventually got my financial footing and paid down my balance to $0.

I asked for a CLI they said no, asked again 3 months later they said no. Stating reasons why ~ payments to low etc. Even when I was spending 800+ a month and paying it off in full.

So, I stopped using it except for a $10 monthly repeator charge which gets auto paid the day is posts. Into the SD it went. A couple months later I got a CLI to $7500.  It's still in the SD. Discover is my DD now.

Re: Cap 1 CLI denial AGAIN

Im in the same boat here.  I have two cards, both are QS1 $500 and $750 CL.  Ive been on auto payments and can agree that Ive always carried a high balance.  I dont recall if Ive ever missed payments but I do know that it hasnt been in the last 4 years because Ive been on auto payments.  Going back to when I opened this card in 2009 I probably wasnt the best with my credit.  Fast forward to the last few months, Ive paid in full, tried not paying in full, and still cant get them to budge.  My fico scores are 700, 715, 711 and I cant get a single CLI.  Very frustating.  I cant even get a product change!

Starting Score: 530EQ, 531TU, 514EX (0/2016)
Current Score: 686EQ, 710TU, 686EX (03/2017)
Goal Score: 750+ (01/2018)

Re: Cap 1 CLI denial AGAIN

So sorry to hear. With Cap 1, you just need to apply for a new card, imho. I had a secured card during my rebuild and while it helped to get me started it was useless to have a reasonable CL or an increase. I applied for a new card and was pleased with the result. Then I closed the older secured card.

Re: Cap 1 CLI denial AGAIN

I won't apply for any other Cap one cards. It would be three hard pulls. AND who knows what bucket I would end up in.

I would rather app 3 others other cards at one hard pull each. I have my eye on the USB Cash+ next. My TU fico 4 is 800 and they are my main bank. I've banked wit them 10+ years. I am 98% sure I would do way better with USB.

I agree 100%.  I can app for another card.  I guess ill just hold on to them.  I was actually thinking of closing them.  I dont want to keep paying the AF.
