Re: Cap One QS CLI approved $100

Thanks for the info everyone.

I'm going to go ahead and take the $100.

This was a journey card then I pc'd it to a quicksilver about 6 months after initially getting it. Still trying to pc it to the no af savor one card but no luck.

It's also worth noting that PCs on Cap One products while they give your account a new paint job don't actually change how the account is viewed.  What I mean by this is that a bucketed/starter account is always going to be exactly that, even with PCs.  It's still an improvement in many cases to have the "better" card, but just remember that it won't increase CLI opportunities.

Re: Cap One QS CLI approved $100

Yep you're correct, when my statement posts the pdf shows it as a platinum card. I have read before about what you just said that it doesn't change how they view the account.

I just want the savor one card for the rewards.

Going to keep the card open just for the age, when I began building my credit in Aug 2019, I got 3 cards within 1 year and a 4th card in October. I'm good for now just gonna let these age, then might think about an AMEX.

Grats, Cap1 is a tough cookie with starter cards and CLI's. I have a QS1 from 2 years ago still sitting at a $700 limit.

Hello everyone!

After countless times of requesting a CLI, cap one hit me with the infamous $100 increase. I opened this card in Sept 2019 as the Student card with a $300 CL, then in February my limit was increased to $500 via credit steps.

Im wondering if I should just take the increase, or are there "data points" if capital one gives out a bigger increase later if one holds out on the offer.

At this point in my credit journey I'm putting my eggs in with Ms Discover, that student card sure is a grower. Granted I put just over 10k in spend YTD on it, on an income of 12k.

TIA!

It's not gonna get much better than 100$ at a time. It's a credit steps card so it'll be low and slow...

Did you accept the $100 CLI?

As far as the PC goes, there have been no success stories (as of recent) for getting the Savor or Savor One.

Nothing wrong with keeping it open, because it sounds like you have your expectations in line with how it's going to end up. SavorOne is a decent no AF rewards card. I have the regular Savor and use it daily. I would check out the new Freedom Flex from Chase too if you're under 5/24. 3% CB on dining just like S1, but then you also get your 5% rotators too! Altitude GO fro USB is 4 pts/dollar on dining but their underwriting is a little more stringent. Not sure how your overall profile is. The one drawback to those other two cards is that they are just dining, and don't cover entertainment like S1 does.

Re: Cap One QS CLI approved $100

Take it and keep requesting increases every 6 months. It'll take a while for it to be useful as anything more than gas.

I opened my first card with cap1 on 1/2016. Starting $400 limit. They auto pc to QS in 2018. I'm still getting $100 cli and can't pc to anything else. currently at $900 cl. for perspective, my citi card is $20,000 and amex card is $25,000, $150,000+ annual income. My boss has a $1,000,000 amex and perfect credit, and they offered him a $15,000 venture.

Cap1 is stingy on overall cl and cli, specially for starter accounts. Great to get started so you can get better cards with other banks, but will never be a worthwhile card outside of that. Put a phone bill on it or use it for gas/dinner occasionally and leave it at that.

Re: Cap One QS CLI approved $100

OP, there are potentially better dining and entertainment cards out there. 3% dining is a common category amongst lenders and easy to find. Entertainment can be tricky.. less issuers offer it or are more specific. Like the SavorOne is more lenient in also counting record stores, concert tickets, that kind of thing. Sometimes some cards count streaming, and the SavorOne currently counts streaming for a limited time. But honestly I don't think my SavorOne has been worth it.. it was a triple pull cuz it's CapOne. Its credit profile has been frozen in time, so it's experienced low growth like your card has. It was semi-worth it cuz it helped me establish a relationship w CapOne and they went on to give me a decent auto loan, but I think you should explore other card options beyond the SavorOne, unless you want it specifically for something like concert tickets

Re: Cap One QS CLI approved $100

I got a Cabela's Mastercard in October 2015. It was originally some other bank but more recently the account became a Capital One MC.

It's my oldest credit card. I had a SL of $500. I have used the heck out of this card because it's been, until this month, my only major credit card with any kind of rewards. 2% back on purchases from Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops, 1% on anything else. But if you spend $10k/year you get 3% back at Cabela's and Bass Pro, 5% if you spend $25k/year. I've spent $10K+ every year on it for the last 3 or 4 years. Do you know how hard it is to put $10k spend on a $500 card? I pay it off every two weeks when I get paid. I've begged for CLI for years. Finally in August of 2020 I got a big ol' CLI of $100 so now my limit is $600. Yay. I only recently started paying attention to statement dates. I looked back over my old statements and see that nearly every one shows me at 90+% on the statement date. So for the past few months, I've been keeping it around 2% on the statement date. We'll see if that helps.

On the other hand, I got a Capital One Platinum Mastercard in November 2015, one month after the Cabela's card. SL was even lower, at $300. But I've gotten CLIs every 6-9 months; $400, $1400, $2400, $3400, $4400, and now $4850. Only requested a CLI a couple times, the others came automatically. I just upgraded this one to a Quicksilver, still waiting on it in the mail.
