Cap One and Citi cli denials

Had some wins lately, but here are some losses.

Capital One Quicksilver -- Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low.

     True, only used this card for the SUB offer and have been collecting dust since.

Citi Double Cash -- At this time, we're unable to approve this request because your credit report shows too many recent inquiries.

     From the letter the sp was from equifax.  My equifax report has 5 inquiries and Fico8 score of 731 as of Jan 8.

I apped for a cli on my custom cash today. Current and sl is $4500. Instant denial on their web portal. Letter will be sent to me in the mail. This card is about 7 months old. I also aquired the Costco visa with 7200 sl last week. My guess is they want to see more history with me.

I am not an expert on Citi Bank but I will say this;

I never go for a CLI on any of my cards as like you I would be denied for too many inquries.

However, they are way more inquiry friendly if you apply for a new card with them.

For many years now when I wanted more credit with Citi I have been going for new cards and all have been approved. I have way more inquries then you have

Thanks for sharing that - I wondered why Citi is so CLI stingy.

Now I know why.
