Cap one denial......too many inquiries

I recently applied for a Cap One card.....received 7 to 10 day message.......called and was told that I had a fraud alert on my file. Contacted equifax and corrected the fraud alert. Applied on Friday......called back on Monday to notify them that I had the fraud alert removed. Received letter stating that Ex had too may inquiries. I have 4 inquires and two of them were for this application. I am not liking Cap One right now. Scores...TU-733 due to reporting balance incorrectly on one account, EX-793, and EQ - 790. Just needed to share with someone.

I would send off an email to the EO. Sorry to hear about your issues.

Re: Cap one denial......too many inquiries

Definately reach out to EO to see if they can do a final review and if the decision can be overturned.  Will keep fingers crossed for you and keep us posted.

Re: Cap one denial......too many inquiries

Yep, I'd reach out to them. You would think when 2 of them went to Cap1 that they should react differently.

I see two things here.  The fraud alert spooked them, and Cap one tends to go with old soft pulls on your CR's,but your TU score of 733 is excellent. Did you check the pre qual site first? Contact the EO. Good Luck

+1

I'm no oracle, but I suspect if it hadn't been for the fraud alert this would have been an easy (and likely generous) approval.

I 'second' reaching out to the EO... this is the sort of thing they are actually supposed to be used for.  Smiley Wink

Re: Cap one denial......too many inquiries

I did call Cap One today in order to get an address and telephone number for EO.  They did not give me a number but they did provide an address.  I'm just  upset about the two hard pulls.  CSR suggested that I should reapply in 30 days.  I will not be reapplying, but hopefully the EO will respond to my letter. After the denial, I applied for the Chase freedom unlimited and I was approved.

Re: Cap one denial......too many inquiries

You have to email EO first, you cannot call them. They will call you, if they miss you, they will leave the #, and the PIN# that you will need in order to get thru to them, you cannot reach the EO without the PIN.

NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
