Seems like Cap1 is a bit tight with the CLI 💰

I was always under the erronious assumption that making payments on time and for at least the minimum payment was a good thing...

Lenders see paying only the minimum as risky behavior, and with some, cardholders will be subject to adverse action if they pay only the minimum over a period of time. It's best to pay at least two to three times the minimum, if not more.

That said, Capital One isn't overly sensitive to cardholders dragging out high balances. They're not likely to reward one with a CLI under those circumstances, though. For CLI purposes, they love it when cardholders use the card a lot and pay in full each month.

Cap1 seems to give lame excuses for cli denials.

For me its "too many recent inquries"

Context:  They are still using an account review EQ pull from November 2017 when I had like 5 inqs from September reporting.   If they actually AR pulled now, they would see I havent had an inq in six months, well except my Amex but that only reported to EX.

Other than that one Amex inq, actually, and the five from sept, i havent had many inqs in the last year either.  All mine from Feb/March when I bought my car and opened my first few cards have all passed the 1 year mark as well.  Yea they still there but they no longer affect the score.

Seems legit, crapone.  Its just them being dumb.  Use a 120 day old report to decide things today.

Yeah when I asked for one on my $10k QS they told me I didn’t have enough usage to justify an increase. It doesn’t come out of the sock drawer very often so fair play on that one. I don’t plan to ask again.

Re: Cap1 CLI Declined - average payment too low

I have over a 830 credit score and Credit lines above 50K and Cap 1 will NOT give me CLI. I am suck at 12K .  I think you really have to use the card.

I put 7K on the card and paid if off all at once a while ago. I got a 2.5K CLI after that.

I personally think there are much better banks out there.

I got the same message for over 6 months.  Id pay 2-3x the min amt and still nothing. Finallly I paid the bal off and then when the last statement cut I got the CLI.  10+ year old account with never a missed payment. Cap1 hates rebuilder accounts and hates it when you carry a balance.
