Hey everyone, its been about 7 months since my last CLI with my Venture card. I want to request another one. But my question is... My limit is 8k right now. I have 6600 dollars on it currently. In two weeks I plan on making a 3500 dollar payment to it, to bring the balance down to 3100. Is it better to request the CLI right now while the balance is high? Or is it better to have a bit of a balance but not this high, and I should just wait the 2 weeks?

Requesting one now shouldnt affect/have any bearing from requesting another one again after that payment. I think I requested CLI 22 times within 12 months.

This. Capital One does not do any hard pulls for increases, so you can literally request an increase every day without penalty. Don't ask me how I know that. It's all automated, so if you are not eligible, you simply get a letter with the reason. Once you are eligible, it will be an instant approval.

Also, I have had good success with the 33% rule. Not sure where I even heard about this, but I ask for a large increase (like $15K when my limit was only $2K) and select "I am expecting a large purchase" as my reason and indicate that I want to put $5k per month on the card. I moved my limit up from $2k to $12k very quickly with this approach. Even if they won't give you the requested amount, they will come back with their max limit you are eligible for by doing this. If you only request $2k but are actually eligible for $5k, they will only give you $2k, so ask for a lot. It has worked for me.
