Capital One Approval

Hey everyone! I'm currently in the garden, but I have a question about a application that I did with Capital One. I received preapprovals in the mail and even got preapproved online. But when I applied the first time I got the 7-10 day message and received a letter stating that I had a Consumer Alert/Fraud Alert on my credit report. So I called and got it removed and then they said that I didn't have a phone number listed on my report. So I called EQ and tried to add my phone number, but I needed to add a fraud alert to do so. So I didn't do it because it would defeat the purpose again. Has this happened to anyone else. If so how did you go about correcting the situation or does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this issue?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

@Irr5837,

Sorry to hear about this.. You made the right decision not adding the fraud alert back as it defeats the purpose.  What I will do is call CAP 1 back and let them know the fraud alert has been removed. So that they can pull the other report.

Did they pull TU and EX?  Or were those 2 also fraud alerted?

Re: Capital One Approval

I had an issue with the Equifax, too, regarding an out-of-date phone number. They refused to change it. I said to him, "So what you are saying is that you prefer to have an outdated number than my current phone number?" Then he said I should contact a creditor and have them post my current phone number. I did that with my bank. The old number is still there, but so is the new number. Hope this helps. Experian changed the phone number while I was on the phone with them to my current number. Go figure!

I did call Cap One back to let them know that I removed the fraud alert. That's when they told me that a phone number isn't on my report. So I'm really at a lost. None of my other reports have alerts.

So I should contact someone  that I have an account with such as Comenity Bank to report my phone number to my report???

Re: Capital One Approval

Yes, and tell them you need your actual number updated on your credit report. It worked for me. I hope it works for you! Now I see both the "new" accurate number and the outdated number.

@Irr5837,

Did they pull EX and TU and just gave you the message for not being pull EX?  Some peeople have reported getting CAP 1 cards with just 2 reports pulled so I am bit curious if any report was pulled at all...

IdIs EX experian? If so I don't know if they pulled them, but they did pull TU and Equifax. On the denial letter it shows from Equifax.

Re: Capital One Approval

I'm going to try this and then reapply later when I come out of the garden.
