Capital One - CLI Question

So I am fairly new to this and I had a question.. I asked for a CLI end of May and was denied but my scores were fairly low. My first question is - Is it too soon to ask again now, if so, will that impact my report as an inquiry? Second question.. Scores are all in the 640's and balance on my current card is at 0 .. and limit is $500 - with good revolving use. Do I just wait for them to auto review for CLI?   Trying to build scores up for home purchase by the end of the year.

Re: Capital One - CLI Question

With Cap One, you could ask for a CLI every day and it doesn't matter, it's all soft pull.  As long as it's been at least 90 days since account opening or at least 6 months since your last CLI you are technically speaking eligible (other factors notwithstanding).

Re: Capital One - CLI Question

All of my CLIs with them have been while I was carrying a balance, before paying them off.

Re: Capital One - CLI Question

As your credit gets dramatically better, say 50 points, you will find it easier to open up new and better Cap One cards than to try and build them up from a $500 CL.  Seach Capital One "glass ceilings" and "buckets"

You may get some CLI, I got one for $8,000 once, but I also got approved for a $30k card the same day I was denied for ANY CLI on 3 accounts.

GL - YMMV

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

Welcome to the MyFico boards.

Was your card original a secured card? or did it just start with a 500 limit?     If it was secured and graduated then it could be bucketed to a low limit forever. My only cap one card has that issue i believe. If your over 6 months and not worried about the triple pull, you could consider another cap one card.  You could always combine them after a year as well.

Re: Capital One - CLI Question

Pretty sure any $500 SL will be bucketed forever.
