Wait-- I thought CapOne won't let you request more than once in a 6 month period? I mean, sure, the application is still there and you can do it multiple times, but didn't think it would make a difference... So the 6 month wait only applies if you accept the CLI?
I read a little of your journey, TygerHawke, and congratulations!
While I do agree with you, I wonder if requesting in my case would yield me as much. I'm still in college with only one line reporting, so, I feel my portfolio and income would work against me a bit. A part of me feels, because of that, I might need to be more careful when I decide to request and show my best, if that makes sense. What you said is very reassuring though, thank you!
you can request as often as you like, and there is absolutely no harm in doing so because they won't hard-pull you. The 6 month rule applies to actual increases, not requests. So, you can play around with what works - I recommend trying now exactly as I described above and if you don't like the offer, don't take it and then 'shine things up' for a month or 2 and try again

Thanks TygerHawke! I guess I'll give it a try tomorrow. Do you guys recommend a certain CLI I should ask for?

Irrelevant - the form doesn't have a field to enter what you want - it just crunches the numbers and tells you what you're going to get

Thank you! Sorry, you're right, I got confused with some of the other CLI offers from other lenders, but you're right.
I decided to give it a whirl and... they only offered me a 250 increase boooo so I declined. I think I'm going to wait a couple months for my scores to adjust and try again. Unless I should?

naah, turning down 250 was probably the right move - if you want that offer to increase, put as much spend through the card as you can comfortably pay off in the same month (i.e. use it like your debit card) - do that for a couple months and try again ![]()
