Good Morning my fellow MyFicoers....So I finally took the plunge and PC'd an old Cap1 Platinum card to Venture One with no problems and then I asked for a CLI and I received this nice little email from Cap1:
Well it looks like that I will have to wait 6 months after my PC to Venture One to get a CLI on this account but yet the odd thing is that I was pre-qual'd for the Quicksilver card....I will wait for 6 months and let my other INQ age some and then hit Cap1 again

Same happened to me. When I combined both of my QS1 CCs they denied my cli due to recent change in limit. Cap1 said I have to wait 6 months
I thought when you PC it doesn't affect your CLI time? If it does I'm screwed. I just PC'd to Quicksilver from Platinum and had two months left before I could request a CLI.

It does affect wait time, pretty sure this was covered in the original combine thread. Not sure where I read it but I knew If I combined them I'd have to wait six months, so I waited a couple right after they both got cli then combined
Combine or PC? Are you saying both affect the CLI timing? I'm so confused.

This is the first time I've read of a PC causing a problem with a CLI, and the language in the OP's denial letter doesn't make sense (to me) since it references a change to the credit line as causing the problem, not the PC.
On the other hand, if accounts are combined, that is a 'legit' reason to get a denial such as this (and is stated on the website before you do the combination).
I'm a bit confused as well.

Yes I was reading the wording too and it didn't fit to what is being said. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens to mines.
Agree with UncleB and he has excellent points as always.
Let's break this whole thing down so it is easier to understand. Capital one considers an account combination to be a CLI, so you would have to wait 6 months before requesting another CLI.
A PC is not a CLI. I've done several PC's with Capital One and received a CLI shortly thereafter.
OP may not be eligible for the CLI for several reasons, but I have never seen a PC be one of these reasons.
The "recent change in the credit line" language in OP"s letter is the standard language that Capital One uses when you have had a CLI on that card anytime within the last 6 months, or 6 statements (it could go either way). Sometimes a person needs to wait a full 6 statements and not just 6 months from the last CLI.
It also would not be the first time that Capital One denied a CLI and used generic language that doesn't really tell you anything.

Did you happen to request a CLI on either card prior to the PC? Maybe two, three, or even five months prior?
