Capital One CLI using old fico scores?

I'm so frustrated with Capital One right now. I have 3 cards with them, one is a Walmart card. I applied for a CLI a couple days ago on each card. They are were denied.

Here is where my frustration is and you all may be able to help me understand. The denial shows my credit score and decline reasons are all dated from a February pull. My score has increased almost 100 points since February. I had my last two collections removed and significantly paid down my balances (less than 30%) since February and it has all updated. I had waited for my reports to update before putting in my CLI request with them.

I called Capital One to find out the next time they will do a soft pull that will use updated credit info and score. I talked to two different people who both told me I need to contact the credit bureaus *facepalm*.

Maybe I'm not articulating well. In short, CLI request submitted in April. The credit data used in denial decision is dated for February.

Does Capital One do soft pulls on a cycle since it's obviously not monthly? Does anyone know when I should apply again for them to use an updated credit pull?

thank you!

Even in my experience it seems like my Cap 1 denial letters are from a score that was pulled at leats 60 day previous. I definitely understand your frustration.

Re: Capital One CLI using old fico scores?

I found one forum post that suggests they do quarterly pulls. So I'm going to give it 3 months from the Feb date. Such a pain lol

Good luck. My cli request last week on my Walmart card used a credit score date that was from before I got the card through Synchrony... March 5, 2015

My Quicksilver was denied using a report from January 2020 (both requested minutes apart).

Re: Capital One CLI using old fico scores?

IIRC, there is no waiting period so you can reapply for a CLI at anytime if you havnt been approved for a CLI in the last six months.  Id wait a couple weeks and try again

Goodn luck

Re: Capital One CLI using old fico scores?

Seems that way. I asked for a Walmart cli 2 days ago and was denied. They uploaded the letter today and used my credit score from feb 25th. I've since paid off multiple cards and decreased utilization across the board. I don't think I'll request again. My Walmart card has been at 200 for almost 2 years now. I only use it because of the 5% back with Walmart pay. I'll probably cancel in September when that special ends.

Hey look ma! I’m finally in the 700 club.

Re: Capital One CLI using old fico scores?

I just figured this out too... smh. I requested a cli on 6/18/20.... they denied with an electronic letter on 6/19/20... I checked the score that they used and it was from 4/28/20! Lol. Its actually not funny but frustrating. My score has increased over 100 points. And I only have two credit cards, one is the platinum Mastercard that was converted to the platinum Quicksilver MC. And my balance on both cards is zero. I only use the quicksilver and pay it off immediately.

@Anonymous some people here have reported better results by putting heavy spend through their cards for a series of months before asking for an increase. You might have better results trying that, maybe using 75-80% of your limit each month and then paying it off lump-sum when due. Do that for 3-4 months and see what happens. By then your better scores will reflect in their pulls and you'll establish a heavy use pattern which is what CapOne looks for.

Re: Capital One CLI using old fico scores?

I am having that same issue now! I have had a card with them over a year and I requested a CLI. They are using a credit score from March in the month of May. There is about an 100pt difference between the 2 scores and its super frustrating. When i called, the first person just continued to tell me how to request the increase (no help at all) and the second told me to wait a few days. Waited until the 2nd of May thinking they'd use April and they are still using March
